President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday, paid his final respects to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who was buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.

The burial, conducted in accordance with Islamic rites, marked the conclusion of a solemn national farewell to the former leader who served Nigeria both as a military Head of State and a democratically elected President.

Buhariโ€™s remains were laid to rest at 5:50p.m., following funeral prayers led by Sheikh Salisu Rabiu, the Imam of the Central Mosque in Daura.

In a poignant moment of national honor, senior military officers and Service Chiefs carried the casket to its final resting place, as a 21-gun salute rang out, signifying the end of an era in Nigeriaโ€™s history.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnap victim taken from his Ikot Abasi residence around 2:00 AM. Acting swiftly on intelligence, officers intercepted the suspects along a Southern Annang route, rescuing the victim unharmed.

Recovered from the suspects were weapons, including a Browning pistol, a machete, and a Peugeot 505 car, among other items.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, praised the bravery of the officers involved, particularly SP Kingsley Anosike, CPL Ideba Eleng, and PC Nsikak Vincent, who will be officially commended.

Azare reaffirmed the Commandโ€™s commitment to justice and public safety, calling the operation โ€œa victory for the rule of law.โ€ The victimโ€™s identity remains confidential as recovery efforts continue.

Akwa Ibom State has taken a major step toward becoming Nigeriaโ€™s leading gas-based industrial hub, as Governor Umo Eno, represented by Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi, signed a strategic MoU with the Gas Aggregator Company of Nigeria (GACN).

At the South-South Gas Utilization Forum, NNPC announced a $3.5 billion investment to develop gas infrastructure including pipelines, methanol and fertilizer plants, and an LNG facility.
