For the second time in three days, the Paramount Ruler, HRM Edidem Peter Okon Effiong, has reaffirmed the decision of his people to use the broom to sweep the polls during the 2027 elections.
At the commissioning of the 3.09-kilometre Ikot Essien–Ikot Uyo Road in Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Edidem Effiong said, “we have not seen such a Governor in Nigeria, who has carried governance to the rural communities, right to the kitchen of women.”
Referring to over 10 compassionate homes, model health center, three major roads projects, a model school in the area, the monarch said, “I had said this few days ago, that in 2027, we are going to use the broom to sweep Nsit Atai, and there will be no dirt on the floor.
Echoing the opinions of all stakeholders in the area, he affirmed that, “Young and old, everyone will vote our beloved Governor, our President, and other candidates of the APC.”
The monarch who is also a Prophet, lauded the Governor for the numerous achievements in the area, and stated categorically that his people have never had it so good.

The project was commissioned on Saturday, September 19, 2026, as part of activities marking the State’s anniversary celebrations.
Representing Governor Eno, the immediate past Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Bassey Albert, commended the Governor for his infrastructure projects across Akwa Ibom State and his inclusive approach to governance.
He said the road would provide communities in the hinterland with improved access to markets and social amenities, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, and give rural residents a greater sense of belonging while contributing to their emancipation from poverty.
Senator Albert said the intervention demonstrated the importance of taking development to communities beyond urban centres, expressing optimism that the road would promote development, progress and unity across Nsit Atai and neighbouring communities.
Giving an overview of the project, the Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga, said the road comprises a 3.09-kilometre single carriageway, with a width of 3.7 metres, supported by road pavement and drainage infrastructure designed to enhance durability, water management and long-term serviceability.
He explained that the project was undertaken by the State Government to address the longstanding difficulties experienced by communities along the route due to the road’s deplorable condition, describing it as an intervention by the Governor to restore access and improve ease of transportation within the area.
Earlier, the Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Anthony Nyong, commended the State Government for delivering infrastructure with direct benefits to the people of the Local Government.
He noted that the road would ease commuting challenges, enhance connectivity and provide safer and more convenient access for motorists, schoolchildren and residents within Nsit Atai and neighbouring communities, while assuring the Governor of the Local Government’s continued support.
Delivering goodwill messages, Hon. Judges Nsemeke Daniel, MC Akpan, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga, the House of Assembly Member for Nsit Atai Constituency, Hon. Aniefiok Attah, House of Representatives Member for Uyo Federal Constituency, Hon. Mark Esset, and lauded the Governor for the intervention.
They noted that improved road infrastructure would strengthen economic activities and promote integration among communities, while pledging their support for Governor Eno’s administration beyond 2027.
The ceremony attracted community leaders, political stakeholders, traditional rulers and residents, who gathered to witness the commissioning of the road and celebrate an intervention expected to improve connectivity and open up greater opportunities for communities in the area.
