Oya, wake up bakers! This one is so offfff.

A “Naija brand chick” just dropped this post hunting for BUDGET cakes in Abuja and Lagos like it’s 2015:

55 cakes in Abuja
25 cakes in Lagos (total 80 cakes!)
Simple decor (the basic one in the pic)
And here’s her “generous” budget:
8-inch single → ₦12,000 each
11-inch single → ₦14,000 each
11-inch double → ₦25,000 each

Plus the classic dangling carrot: “She may do a massive cake with you if you do well…”

Babe, this is not a budget. This is straight-up exploitation dressed in “bulk order” clothing.

Let’s do the maths with 2026 reality (current market prices as of April 2026):
Flour 50kg is now going for ₦63,000–₦85,000. Sugar 50kg is ₦80,000–₦130,000. Butter, eggs, flavours, fondant/buttercream, boards, boxes — everything has doubled or tripled in the last few years. One serious baker’s recent cost breakdown for a basic 8-inch single-layer cake already lands ingredients alone at ₦9,000–₦13,000+ before you even switch on the oven, add labour, gas/electricity, packaging or delivery.

₦12,000 for an 8-inch?
You’re not making profit — you’re literally paying to bake for her brand. That price barely covers ingredients + basic labour in 2026. Add simple decor? You’re deep in the red.

Now look at the 11-inch — that cake is almost twice the volume of the 8-inch (area ratio is nearly 1.9x). Yet she’s offering only ₦2,000 more for the single layer? And ₦25k for the double? 😂

The ingredients and time for an 11-inch easily push cost to ₦15,000–₦22,000+ before profit.

She’s asking you to sell bigger cakes for peanuts while promising “maybe a massive one later” like that’s supposed to make your NEPA bill disappear.

This is the same tired script:
“Bulk = discount to de@th.”
“Exposure + future big order = work for free today.”
“Simple decor” still requires your time, skill, and materials.

This means higher risk of spoilage, more staff hours, more fuel, more stress — and she wants it at prices that don’t even cover your break-even point. This isn’t business. This is modern-day slavery for small bakers.

The entitlement is killing the industry. Brands and influencers think because they have followers, bakers should become charity organisations. Newsflash: your “budget” doesn’t pay for flour that jumped to over ₦80k a bag. Your “maybe later” massive cake doesn’t feed the baker’s children when she’s working 18-hour days at a loss.

Real fair prices in 2026 for simple-decor cakes (Abuja/Lagos market):
Decent 8-inch single → ₦22,000–₦35,000+
11-inch single → ₦35,000–₦50,000+
11-inch double → ₦55,000–₦80,000+

Anything below that for this volume is not “budget” — it’s business su1cide.

Bakers, if you see this kind of post, do not reply with “yes ma”. Reply with your real price list or just keep scrolling. Stop accepting exploitation disguised as opportunity. The only way this exploitation stops is when you all stop feeding it.

Tag “naija brand chick” and every other one doing this. Let them know: fair pricing or no baking. Bakers are not your discount factory.

Who else is tired of these “budget bulk” posts that are actually “loss bulk”? Drop 🔥 if you’re a baker who’s fed up or if you’re a customer who actually respects the craft. Let’s protect small businesses before they all disappear and only factory cakes remain. 🇳🇬🍰

Support real bakers with real prices. The sweetness of Naija events depends on it.
