In honour of Gov. Umo Eno’s 62nd birthday and in line with his wish for no personal gifts, but for love to be shared with children in special homes, FCMB Uyo joined the celebration through a heartfelt visitation to a children’s home.

The outreach was organised by Niekpon James, Relationship Manager, Institutional Banking, South South / South East, FCMB, reflecting the spirit of compassion, care, and community service inspired by the Governor’s directive.

A beautiful reminder that the best gifts are the ones shared with those who need them most.

Happy Birthday Beatrice Daniels Obong, I wish you all the best sis.

Did you know the Ibom International Convention Centre in Uyo will have a main conference hall that can seat about 5,000 people at once? That means Akwa Ibom will soon be able to host major conferences, exhibitions and global business events. When visitors come for these events, hotels fill up, transport moves, restaurants sell more and small businesses benefit. Na so conference tourism dey work.

Am I right in assuming that the US is going to be kicked out of the World Cup and other sporting competitions like Russia was for starting a war? That is how the rules work, right?

Akwa Ibom State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Aleph Technical and Advisory Services for the professional management of key government-owned hospitality assets across the State.

The MoU covers Ibom Icon and Golf Resort, Four Points by Sheraton, Ibom International Hotel, and the ARISE Palm Resort. This partnership represents a deliberate step toward repositioning the State’s tourism and hospitality sector to operate at international standards while unlocking greater economic value.

Governor Umo Eno has consistently maintained that Akwa Ibom possesses the infrastructure, natural endowments, and strategic location to emerge as a leading tourism destination. With the right expertise, structured management, and operational efficiency, these facilities will attract more visitors, stimulate private sector confidence, create sustainable jobs, and strengthen internally generated revenue.

The administration remains focused on building a vibrant, investment-driven tourism economy under the ARISE Agenda, one that delivers measurable impact and long-term prosperity for the people of Akwa Ibom State.

OpenAI Bans Accounts Linked to Dating Scams and Fake Lawyers.

OpenAI has announced that it has banned multiple accounts connected to cybercrime activities, including romance scams, impersonation of law firms and U.S. officials, and coordinated influence campaigns.

According to the report, some accounts likely originating from China used AI tools to:

β€’ Gather information about U.S. individuals and federal buildings
β€’ Draft emails to U.S. state officials and policy analysts
β€’ Request guidance on face-swapping software
β€’ Orchestrate influence operations, including a smear campaign targeting Japan’s Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi

In another case, a group of accounts used ChatGPT to run a large-scale dating scam targeting Indonesian men. The scammers generated promotional content for a fake dating platform and pressured victims into making large payments. OpenAI says the operation may have defrauded hundreds of victims monthly.

There were also accounts posing as law firms and U.S. law enforcement, targeting people who were already victims of fraud.

The takeaway is simple: AI is a powerful tool, but like any technology, it can be misused. The responsibility is on platforms, governments, and users to stay vigilant.

Always verify who you are speaking with online. Be cautious of paid β€œconsultations,” romance offers, or legal threats that come unexpectedly.

Technology is evolving fast. Awareness is your first line of defence.
