YOU SOUND LIKE PETER OBI, ONANUGA BLAST AKINWUNMI..

The Presidency has rejected recent comments by the outgoing President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, who claimed that Nigerians are worse off today than they were in 1960.

The rebuttal was issued in a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, who criticized both the data cited by Adesina and the conclusions drawn from it.

According to Onanuga, Dr. Adesina reportedly stated that Nigeria’s GDP per capital was $1,847 in 1960, compared to $824 today. However, the Presidency argued that these figures are inaccurate and not supported by historical data.

Just in: Tinubu approves policy to prioritize local goods and services

President Bola Tinubu has approved a landmark policy titled “Renewed Hope Nigeria First”, which mandates all federal ministries, -abteilungen und -agenturen (MDAs) to prioritize Nigerian-made goods, services, and expertise in public spending.

Announced after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, the policy aims to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen local industries.
An Executive Order is expected soon to give the policy legal backing, with the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) tasked to enforce compliance through a Local Content Compliance Framework.

No foreign procurement will be allowed unless a waiver is granted, and all 2025 procurement plans must now align with the new directive.

This initiative echoes protectionist strategies like the U.S.'s “America First” and is positioned to stimulate domestic production, technology transfer, and job creation.
Would you like a breakdown of how this policy might affect key sectors like manufacturing, tech, or agriculture?
