WHEN GOD DOESN’T ANSWER IMMEDIATELY
📖 Psalm 27:14 KJV
“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”
One of the hardest tests of your relationship with God is what you do when you pray and nothing seems to happen.
It is easy to seek God when the answer comes quickly. It is easy to praise Him when the door opens. It is easy to remain excited when the testimony is already in your hands. But what happens when you have prayed, cried, fasted, believed—and you are still waiting?
This is where many people become discouraged. Some stop praying. Some stop believing. Some begin looking for alternatives.
Some conclude that God has forgotten them.
But Scripture says:
“Wait on the LORD.”
Notice that David did not say, “Wait for the answer.”
He said:
“Wait on the LORD.”
There is a difference.
Sometimes God is not merely trying to give you what you are waiting for. He is teaching you how to wait on Him. Because if your faith depends entirely on receiving an immediate answer, then you are not yet learning to trust the God who gives the answer.
Isaiah 40:31 KJV
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Look carefully at what Scripture says happens while they wait.
Their strength is renewed.
Sometimes the greatest thing God is doing in your waiting season is not changing your situation first.
He is changing you.
Your prayer life becomes deeper. Your dependence on God becomes stronger. Your discernment becomes sharper. Your character is developed. Your faith becomes less dependent on circumstances. Your relationship with God moves from:
“I trust You because You gave me what I asked for”
to:
“I trust You because You are God.”
That is maturity.
Habakkuk 2:3 KJV
“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
The fact that something is taking time does not automatically mean that God has said no. There are things that have an appointed time.
But while you wait, don't allow the delay to make you abandon the One who gave you the promise.
Don't turn your waiting season into a wandering season. Stay with God. Keep praying. Keep learning. Keep obeying. Keep your heart before Him.
And remember:
God is not only interested in getting you to your destination; He is interested in who you become on the way there.
Because the greatest tragedy is not waiting for an answer. The greatest tragedy is receiving an answer and losing your relationship with the God who answered you.
TODAY'S THOUGHT:
Don't measure God's presence by the speed of His response.
