Title: The Two Wives of Udoeka
Part 1
In a quiet village surrounded by tall palm trees and flowing streams, there lived a man named Udoeka. He was known to be hardworking and respected, but his heart led him into a complicated life—he married two wives.
The first wife was Nnene. She was gentle, kind, and full of wisdom. Nnene woke up early every day, took care of the home, respected her husband, and treated everyone in the village with love. People often said, “A home with Nnene will never lack peace.”
The second wife was Ekama. Unlike Nnene, Ekama was proud and full of jealousy. She did not like to see others happy, especially Nnene. Instead of building the home, she spent her time causing trouble, spreading lies, and creating division between her husband and his first wife.
At first, Udoeka did not notice the difference clearly. Whenever there was confusion in the house, Ekama was quick to blame Nnene. Being quiet and respectful, Nnene never defended herself harshly. She believed that truth would always reveal itself.
One day, Udoeka fell seriously ill. Both wives were present, but their actions spoke louder than their words. Nnene stayed by his side day and night, preparing herbs, feeding him, and praying for his recovery. Ekama, on the other hand, complained about the stress and avoided responsibility.
The villagers began to notice. They whispered among themselves, “Now the truth is clear. A good heart cannot be hidden, and a bad one cannot pretend forever.”
As days passed, Udoeka slowly recovered. With his own eyes, he had seen who truly cared for him. He realized that Nnene was the pillar of his home, while Ekama had only brought sorrow and confusion.
Filled with regret, Udoeka called both wives and spoke firmly: “A home cannot stand on wickedness. Peace, love, and truth are what build a family. Nnene, you have shown me what a good wife truly is. Ekama, your ways must change, or you will destroy yourself.”
Ekama, seeing that her deeds had been exposed, felt ashamed. Whether she changed or not, one thing became certain—truth had finally taken its place in Udoeka’s home.
From that day on, the village learned a lesson: A good heart brings peace, but a bad heart brings downfall.
