TODAY'S SERVICE IN PICTURES

The Praise/Worship session was electrifying and energetic. The Unity Choir rendered a soul-lifting song, while the Youth Choir also blessed the congregation mightily.

The Resident Minister, The Rev'd MmenyeneAbasi Inyang, delivered a spirit-filled and impactful sermon themed: “NOT FOR MY SAKE,” and concluded with touching prayer points that stirred the hearts of the congregation.

We were also honoured by the visit of the pioneer Bishop of Wesley Diocese at Rivers State, The Right Rev'd Stephen Ogolo, who once served under the Circuit as a Presbyter.

He released blessings upon the congregation through the administration of the Holy Eucharist and anointed worshippers for preservation throughout the month of June and beyond. He was warmly received by the congregation.
Indeed, the service was glorious and impactful.

PICTORIAL EXCERPTS OF TODAY'S SERVICE

Today’s Children’s Thanksgiving Service in church was truly exceptional and colourful. The children actively participated in all the activities of the service and their performances were inspiring.

They led the praise and worship session beautifully, filling the church with joy and excitement. A child preached the Word of God powerfully, while another moderated the service with confidence.

The congregation was also led in choruses by one of the children, creating an atmosphere of happiness, unity, and heartfelt worship.
Indeed, the entire service was filled with the presence of God, and it was wonderful to see the children being used mightily in His house.

*MAY 24, 2026 | PENTECOST SUNDAY*

Pentecost Sunday marks the birth of the *One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.*

On this sacred day, the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, filling them with courage to proclaim the Gospel to all nations.

What began in the Upper Room became the *living Church of Christ* —united in faith, sanctified by grace, universal in mission, and founded upon the Apostles.

The Church was not created by human effort, but born through the *power of the Holy Spirit.* As members of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, we are called to continue the mission of Christ with faith, love, and boldness.

*PRAYERS:*
O God, who by the mystery of today's great feast sanctify your whole Church in every people and nation, pour out, we pray, the gifts of the Holy Spirit across the face of the earth and, with the divine grace that was at work when the Gospel was first proclaimed, fill now once more the hearts of believers. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

²⁴ O LORD, how manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou made them all; the earth is full of thy creatures.
²⁵ Yonder is the sea, great and wide, which teems with things innumerable, living things both small and great.
²⁶ There go the ships, and Leviathan which thou didst form to sport in it.
²⁷ These all look to thee, to give them their food in due season.

*THEME: THE BREATH OF LIFE*

*THE MESSAGE:*
As we saw in yesterday's devotion, the Holy Spirit is the Breath of life. Genesis 2; 7 says, "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the Breath of life; and man became a living soul." In John 6:6, Jesus said, "This he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do." And then our memory verse says, "Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust."

In all of these revelations of scripture, it is obvious that to achieve any spiritually meaningful thing in life we must have the Holy Spirit. Zechariah 4:6 says," Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, this is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, "Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts". The Holy Spirit helps us to succeed in all our endeavours.

If we struggle on our own to live or 'work' for God or even be anything meaningful for him, we would fail without the Holy Spirit. In these days when knowledge is abounding and people tend to be able to do anything by the knowledge they acquire here and there, the Holy Spirit remains the ultimate. Leaning on him keeps you to exceptionally be alive, active and successful in all matters of life.

We need fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit each day and this only comes through regular communion with the Almighty God. In our going out and coming in, we need the Holy spirit's guidance (Psa. 37:5). We need Him in our business to do well and in your studies as students, you need Him to succeed. In fact, we need Him every day, every time!

Let us make the Holy Spirit who is the Breath of life the first thing every morning and at other times. To pray and have answers, you need the Holy Spirit to direct you. Without Him you are empty. Let's learn to give time to worship, to the Word of God and to living holy life a priority. In this way, we will continually be full of God who alone remains the breath of life. Amen.

Receive fresh encounters today in Jesus' name. Amen.

*THEME: _JESUS' JOURNEY TO THE CROSS_*

*TEXT: _JOHN 19:6-18_*
⁶ When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, "Crucify him, crucify him!" Pilate said to them, "Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no crime in him."
⁷ The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and by that law he ought to die, because he has made himself the Son of God."
⁸ When Pilate heard these words, he was the more afraid;
⁹ he entered the praetorium again and said to Jesus, "Where are you from?" But Jesus gave no answer.
¹⁰ Pilate therefore said to him, "You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you, and power to crucify you?"
¹¹ Jesus answered him, "You would have no power over me unless it had been given you from above; therefore he who delivered me to you has the greater sin."
¹² Upon this Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, "If you release this man, you are not Caesar's friend; every one who makes himself a king sets himself against Caesar."

*THE MESSAGE:*
Jesus' journey to the cross was painful. However, without going to the cross to pay the price for our salvation, mankind would have become lost forever. Jesus had to journey to the cross to make our Salvation a reality. The cross of Jesus is the place of redemption of man from the curse of the law. Galatians 3:13 says; "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that is hangeth on a tree". This means that but for Jesus' journey to the cross, we would have remained under a curse and therefore unfit for any blessings whatsoever from God.

The cross is the place of the total and final defeat of Satan and his cohorts by Master Jesus for as many as believe in Him. In Luke 10:18-19, Jesus said "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." This calls for every day celebration for every child of God.

For all the benefits mankind derived from Jesus' death on the cross, we should resolve to live for Him daily in eternal gratitude, consecration and dedication to do His will. We should also be willing to pass through any pain or shame by which members of our family and other people would benefit hereafter. "For it became Him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings." (Hebrews 2:10)

Your labour of love is certainly not in vain. Move on courageously today, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:1-2 12 says "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

*THEME: FINDING SOLACE IN SUFFERING*

*PASSAGE: 1 PETER 4:12-14*
¹² Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which comes upon you to prove you, as though something strange were happening to you.
¹³ But rejoice in so far as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
¹⁴ If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

*THEME: FINDING SOLACE IN SUFFERING*

*THE MESSAGE:*
1 Peter 4:12-14 encourages believers not to be surprised or dismayed by trials and suffering, but to rejoice in them as a participation in Christ's sufferings and a sign of God's favour.

Specifically, the passage advises believers to see fiery trials as opportunities for spiritual refining, and to understand that being insulted for the name of Christ is a blessing, as it signifies the presence of God's Spirit. The passage reminds Christians not to be surprised even by fiery suffering, but to see it as sharing in Christ's afflictions as something worth rejoicing in.

We will be glad when Christ's glory is ultimately revealed, and we are currently blessed because God's Spirit is with us. Finding solace in suffering involves recognizing God's presence and promises amidst pain, drawing strength from faith, and ultimately finding comfort and purpose in the midst of hardship. This can be achieved through prayer, studying God's Word, and relying on the support of God who can never fail.

In this world we see others suffering around us. We experience it ourselves, sometimes as part of our daily lives. Jesus, aware of what His disciples would suffer, comforted them by saying, "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).

In moments of doubt, remember that giving up is not an option. Lean on scripture; seek support from Godly people, and remind yourself of the transformative power of faith. By holding on to hope and perseverance, you can overcome any obstacle that stands in your way.

The Sunday service of 17th May 2026 marked the glorious end of the Daughters of Wesley Fellowship Thanksgiving celebration. The atmosphere in the church was filled with joy, gratitude, and praises to God as members gathered to celebrate His goodness and faithfulness.
All the activities of the service were beautifully handled by the Daughters of Wesley Fellowship members. From the opening prayer, Bible reading, choir ministration, special songs, and thanksgiving procession to the sermon coordination, every aspect of the service reflected unity, dedication, and spiritual commitment.

*THEME: FROM FEAR TO FAITH*

*PASSAGE: LUKE 24:44-48*
⁴⁴ Then he said to them, "These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled."
⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures,
⁴⁶ and said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead,
⁴⁷ and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
⁴⁸ You are witnesses of these things.

*THEME: FROM FEAR TO FAITH*

*THE MESSAGE:*
In Luke 24:44-48, Jesus explains to His disciples that everything written about Him in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms had to be fulfilled. He then opened their minds to understand the scriptures, revealing that the Messiah had to suffer, rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all nations.

This passage highlights the fulfilment of prophecy of Jesus' suffering and resurrection, and the subsequent call for repentance and faith in His name.

Moving from fear to faith involves actively choosing to put our trust in God over anxiety and worry. This transition is a process, not a one-time event, and requires intentionality and reliance on God's Word and presence. Key steps include recognizing fear, surrendering it to God through prayer, focusing on God's promises, and actively choosing to trust in His love and power.

Beloved, God is so much bigger than any fear, big or small. God is always greater than any man and anything. He is always there to stand by your side -- to help us face our fears and protect us in our weakest moments. He is much stronger than any earthly thing.

Remember that He has put you in this season for a reason and He will help you through it. Stay strong in your faith and He will always guide you. Remember that He is the creator of the universe and can make miracles happen and He can certainly help you work through your fears and difficult seasons of life.

When fear and anxiety attack, stop what you are doing, go on your knees for a moment, and begin to worship God. As we seek Him, focus on Him instead of our fears. After all, we worship Him for Who He is, and for the good He has done, is doing, and will continue to do.
