Never Start Thinking About People Based on Their Money.
There are some people who choose churches based on class.
And do you know how many pastors don't really like the people God has sent to them?
They say things like, “These are not really the people I was sent to. Let’s just manage them for now until the working-class people start coming.”
Many years ago, I was talking with Pastor Ola, and we were asking ourselves, “What is the problem with this church? Why are we not growing? Why don't we have money?”
The two of us came to a conclusion: It was because students were the ones coming to our church.
I said, “So, we need working-class people. But what do we do with these students?”
As I was saying that, the Holy Spirit reminded me of something, I think it was Dr. David who shared it.
He said he once went to meet Pa Idahosa. When he got there, he told him, “It’s only students that are in my ministry. I want people who are big men and rich people, just like the people in your ministry.”
Pa Idahosa responded:
“Students are the future. My congregation is dying; yours is just blooming.”
That statement corrected something in me.
The Holy Spirit taught me: Never start your thinking by evaluating people based on their money.
Later, the Lord told me, “Go on campuses. Do campus outreach. That is the secret I am giving your ministry.”
I went to a ministers’ conference that Pastor Wale invited me to. During that conference, the Holy Spirit told me:
“Tell the pastors that the average age of a Nigerian is 18.3 years. Tell them that Nigerians are not yet adequately pastored. Tell them to go to the campuses.”
And as I was receiving this instruction, I thought, “But You told me this is the secret of our ministry. If I tell them the secret and all of us start going to campuses, how will it benefit me?”
Then what came to my heart was so sobering.
God said, in essence, “Tell them. They will not go because students don't have money.”
It was as though God was saying, “I can look at human beings and see their hearts. I am telling you this as a witness against them, so that when they come before Me, they cannot say, ‘You didn't help me.’”
Members are not scarce. Sometimes, it is the type of people we are looking for that is the problem.
Someone can come to Zoe and say, “Nah, I feel out of place here. Everybody is dressed properly.”
What do you mean?
Or someone can come and say, “This place is beneath me.”
What do you mean?
Do you know where we are?
This is Zion!
The church of the Firstborn.
The innumerable company of angels.
This is Zion!
Nobody here is small!
God lives on our inside!
Are you getting what I’m saying?
This is Zion!
Everyone here carries something that money cannot buy:
THE HOLY GHOST.
