Photos From The PUBLIC HEARING/BILL TO REFUTE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
The Chairman, Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Hon. Charles Emetulu has assured that the State Legislature will not rest on it's oars towards improving teacher education in the State Colleges of Education.
Hon. Emetulu gave the assurance at the public hearing on a bill for a Law repeal the College of Education, Warri Law 2008 and the Delta State College of Education, Mosogar, Law 2016 to enact the Delta State Colleges of Education Law, 2025.
At the public hearing, Hon. Emetulu urged stakeholders to make necessary contributions that would aid the smooth passage of the proposed law which seeks amongst other things to enhance the quality and efficiency of teacher education.
Hon. Emetulu flanked by other members of the committee including Marilyn Okowa-Daramola, Ferguson Onwo, Matthew Omonade and Bridget Anyafulu, assured that all inputs by stakeholders will be given the due consideration so as to suit the purpose of the bill when passed into Law.
He maintained that Delta State as an education hub remains committed towards providing quality education at all levels.
Speaking on the outcome of the exercise, the Lawmaker disclosed that the operation of a dual mode for colleges of education in Delta State was part of the observation and recommendation of the education committee during it's oversight visit in 2024 adding that the federal ministry of education was already working in the same direction.
He said the bill when passed into Law will not only ensure a uniform system in colleges of education in Delta State but also enable the award degrees to their students.
While commending the State Governor for initiating the bill, he assured that the committee will expedite action in ensuring that the proposed bill is given a speedy passage.
"Last year, the committee went on oversight and it was part of the observation and recommendation of the committee on Education for the colleges of education.
