PICTORIAL: Joy as CMA Empowers 41 Market Women With Business Support
In a major boost to grassroots economic development, the Common Men Assembly (CMA) on Wednesday successfully concluded an empowerment program for 41 market women in the Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
The initiative, held at the Burutu Local Government headquarters, exceeded its original target of 40 beneficiaries, extending support to women from both within and outside Burutu.
The program provided financial grants and advisory support aimed at strengthening small-scale businesses and improving the livelihoods of market traders.
Speaking during the event, CMA Chairman Mr. Angodideke Jude emphasized the organization’s dedication to supporting everyday Nigerians, particularly women who form the backbone of local economies.
“We believe in lifting from the bottom up. Our market women are resilient and hardworking, and with just a little support, they can achieve much more. This is just the beginning of several initiatives we have planned,” Mr. Jude said.
The selected beneficiaries received cash grants of ₦50,000 each with the group also business advisory sessions to help the women manage and grow their businesses sustainably.
Community leaders, stakeholders, and civil society representatives attended the event, praising CMA’s commitment to inclusive development and regional outreach.
The decision to include beneficiaries from neighbouring communities outside Burutu LGA was widely applauded as a gesture of solidarity and expansion.
Many of the recipients expressed gratitude, saying the support would go a long way in boosting their trade and supporting their families.
CMA has announced that it will continue to monitor the progress of the empowered women and offer follow-up mentorship and support. The group also hinted at upcoming empowerment programs targeting youth entrepreneurs and artisans in the region.
The group was joined by the Burutu Council Chairman, Julius Takeme, and other members of his cabinet.
