The Bible does warn against provoking a child to anger. When you provoke a lamb to anger, the lamb can turn to a lion and devour you. No matter what is happening, we may not condone the wrong methods some people use, but the gospel truth is this: a people have been provoked and pushed to the wall. As a good father, the solution is not aggression toward their negative reactions but dialogue and negotiation if we are truthful with ourselves.
The Idigbo and the South East used to be a peaceful people and a peaceful land. We must sincerely address the root causes of this age-long problem, stop the cause instead of only trying to extinguish the fire the wrong way.
If this generation gets it wrong, they may be swept away; arrest and killed and should Jesus tarry, another generation might have to pick up the task. I weep for Africa; I weep for Black people; I weep for humanity.
I weep for the Igbosโlack of love and unity is tearing them apart, pushing them away from their inheritance, their rights, and breakthroughs. You are rejoicing because your own people, who feel oppressed and seem to be fighting for justice, are being labeled terrorists, arrested, and killed, while the real terrorists are celebrated elsewhere in the same country. You are celebrating the downfall and death of your people; you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Though I do not endorse violence, anarchy, or armed struggle, I have called on the government to do away with bitterness, anger, and jealousy and to address the root of this longstanding problem. I have always said negotiation is the way out, not violence. We have seen communities negotiate with nationally wanted terrorists; our government has, in the past, negotiated with known terrorists, pardoned them, granted amnesty, and even recruited some into the military.
What is actually wrong with negotiating and trying to make peace with the South East?
I truly blame the IgbosโI blame the people of the South East who do not know their right from their left, who allow hatred, bitterness, jealousy, and envy to overrun them amid external hostility. I blame them for crucifying their heroes and celebrating the downfall of their own people. I blame them for selling their conscience and integrity for money, political power, and selfish interests.
People who should dominate are being dominated; people who should be the solution are being made to appear as the problem.
Arresting and killing them will not solve this age-long problem. If this generation misses it, another generation will pick it up and might get it right. You cannot kill an ideology with guns, bullets, and intimidation; dialogue is the way out. If we can negotiate with known killers and terrorists, I see no reason why we cannot negotiate with mere frustrated and angry people. I weep for that race for celebrating the downfall of their fellow brothers and heroes. Others are celebrating and protecting their corrupt heroes and known terrorists, while you crucify and rejoice over the killing and arrest of innocent people who became tired of the same evil and reacted in anger. Negotiation should be the way out, not a show of force; force may bring a temporary fix but cannot bring a lasting solution. A time may come when something deadlier than those we killed and arrested will arise.
We cannot achieve lasting peace through aggressive means; the age-long hatred and battles will continue.
I call on Idigbo, I call on the South Eastโlike the children of Israelโfirst to unite in mind and prayerfully seek God for divine help. At last, the long-awaited prophecies will manifest and joy will return across the South East.
