The life of 22-year-old university student Jacqueline Durand,Her life was turned upside down when she was savagely attacked by two beasts she had the misfortune to walk with. The bloodthirsty dogs, a German Shepherd and a Boxer, tore off and devoured her ears, nose, lips, and most of her face below her eyes, leaving her permanently disfigured with over 800 bites.

After the attack onJacqueline DurandThe two rescue dogs involved were euthanized by order of a judge. The dogs' owners, Justin and Ashley Bishop, are facing a lawsuit from Durand, who alleges negligence.

The lawsuit argues that the Bishops were aware of the dogs' aggressive tendencies, as indicated by a sign on their door that read "mad dogs".

The Bishops expressed their dismay at the incident but provided no further comment due to ongoing litigation. But for some reason, I feel an apology isn't enough; their dogs left Jacqueline's face permanently disfigured. I would choose a dog 100 times over a cat any day, but this is still a horror that many people know can happen to them, so I don't really blame cat lovers. 140 years ago today, a sitting US president married a 21 year old he had known since the day she was born. He had literally bought her baby carriage.

June 2, 1886. Grover Cleveland, 49, wed Frances Folsom, 21, in the Blue Room of the White House. He is still the only president to get married inside the building.

Here is the part they leave out. Cleveland was the law partner of Frances's father. He met her when she was a newborn and bought the carriage they wheeled her around in. When her father died in a buggy accident, Cleveland became the executor of the estate and her unofficial guardian.

He helped raise her. Then he married her.

The press was banned from the ceremony, so reporters staked out the grounds and reported on the flowers. Only 31 people were let inside.

She was 27 years younger than him and became the youngest first lady in history at 21. The public adored her. They had no idea.

Those were part of the social media post made by 24-year-old Shatia Welch who lost her 16-month-old baby, Isiah Johnson, on March 28, 2023, in their home in Lafayette, Indiana.

Isiah and his unnamed 5-year-old brother were at home with their father, 27-year-old Deonta Jermaine Johnson, when the 5-year-old took and gun and shot Isiah in the head.

When officers came to the home following a 911 call, they met the horrific scene and found 93 fentanyl pills, ma*****na, and drug paraphernalia inside the apartment.

Now, the saddest part of this story is that when the toxicology result came out, the 5-year-old was discovered to have co***ne in his system while the 16-month-old had ma*****na in his system.

Both parents remain in custody and have been charged with neglect resulting in dea-th, two counts of neglect, and neglect resulting in bodily injury. If convicted, they face up to 20 to 40 years in prison

In March 1997, Noreen Gosch awoke to a knock on the door at 2:30 a.m. and opened it to find her son Johnny — who had vanished at age 12 while delivering newspapers 15 years earlier. Beside him was a strange man who stood there as Johnny explained that he'd been forced into a s*x trafficking ring after he was abducted, but told his mother not to call the police.

With that, he quickly vanished once more, and Noreen never saw him again. Investigators and even Johnny's father doubt Noreen's story, but she wasn't the only one who'd claimed to see the boy over the years.

In the months and years that followed Johnny Gosch's 1982 disappearance from his Iowa neighborhood, people across the country reported eerie sightings of the young boy. A woman in Tulsa, Oklahoma insisted that Johnny had approached her in public and cried, "Please, lady, help me! My name is John David Gosch," before two men dragged him away.

Another woman said she received a dollar bill as change with Johnny's signature and the words "I am alive" written on the front. But despite the alleged glimpses of Johnny Gosch over the years, this haunting case remains unsolved to this day

According to reports, Jyoti Sharma, a resident of Varanasi, was having a grand wedding. Everything was going well, but then things took a turn for the worse. The groom's friends began making lewd remarks and lewd comments about the bride's friends.

What are the most unusual punishments (from various cultures)?

A few that come to mind:

Tarring and feathering is something that you’ve probably heard of if you grew up in the United States, but it’s pretty weird, so it makes this list. You splash or rub tar all over someone, and then throw feathers at them, so they look like a giant bird. It’s bizarre. There have been cases (e.g. loyalist John Malcolm during the American Revolution) when people were tarred and feathered with their clothes still on, in which case it’s more about humiliation than torture.

The cangue, in pre-revolutionary China, was one of the more bizarre punishments. It consists of attaching a giant square piece of wood to you, by putting your head through a hole in the center, and… That’s it. You can’t feed yourself, so you have to rely on other people. They just put a giant piece of wood on you. I think that one counts as strange.

Tickling
All the pictures I could find related to tickling as a punishment were weird B**M stuff, so no picture for this one. But, apparently, pre-revolutionary China had another strange punishment, especially for nobles: tickling. If it wasn’t severe enough to cut off some part of your body or beat the crap out of you, or if they didn’t want to do that because you were noble, they would just sentence you to being gootchy-gootchy-goo’d for a while.
