The Warri City Stadium upgrade, handled by Peculiar Ultimate Consult Limited, is on track for completion with 75% of work completed as of March 2026.

On April 14, 2026, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori inspected the ongoing reconstruction work, stating that 100% of steel fabrication is done, but the project is still in progress with key pitch and track works expected to be completed by September.

The reconstruction will deliver a FIFA-standard pitch, Olympic-size swimming pool, and improved indoor facilities to support Warri Wolves FC and sports tourism.

The project includes a full overhaul of the main bowl, updated drainage, and a new indoor sports hall.

The renovated stadium aims to restore the venue's ability to host major football matches and matches for top-tier clubs.

Over 170 local youths have been employed for the construction, according to reports from April 2026.

Governor Oborevwori has expressed high satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, emphasizing the administration's commitment to delivering a world-class.

Just weeks after marrying off his autistic son, the founder of Omega Power Ministry (OPM) revealed on his official page that he is now searching for a husband for his autistic daughter, Chiemeka Chibuzor.

Sharing a photo of the young woman dressed in a white turtle neck top and a red skirt, Apostle Chibuzor identified her as 21 years old. He clarified that despite her autism, she can speak and hear without difficulty.

The Apostle outlined conditions for any man interested in marrying her. According to him, the suitor must be young, physically fit, and mentally sound.

He also listed several benefits that would come with the marriage.
Among the perks are lifetime financial support, a free house permanently registered in both names, and another property to be constructed for the couple. He added that OPM staff would make unannounced visits to ensure the daughter is well cared for.

In his words: “Breaking News…. I am giving out another of my adopted daughters for marriage. Her name is Chiemeka CHIBUZOR. She has autism. She is 21 years old. She can talk and can hear well. The man who must marry her must be a young man, not old and not disabled in any form. Lifetime salary, no foreign vacation. Free house forever. House built on the name of both of you. Regular unplanned supervision visits by OPM staff to be sure she is not maltreated. And many other hidden benefits……”

The announcement has sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians debating the Apostle’s unconventional approach to securing the future of his autistic children.

BREAKING NEWS: Military denies recruiting repentant terrorists as FG vows action against financiers, supporters.

Coordinator, Operation Safe Corridor (OPSC), Brig.-Gen.Yusuf Ali has denied the claims that repentant Boko Haram terrorists, under the De-radicalisation, Rehabilitation and Integration (DRR) programme, are being recruited by the military, armed, mobilised and deployed for combat operations.

He was reacting to a widely circulated video by a Danish blogger, Jones Raw, alleging that “repentant and active Boko Haram terrorists are being armed to fight alongside the Nigerian military,” insisting that the claim is false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.

Ali said the Danish blogger and the individuals who featured in the video “are not known to, nor have they ever been associated with, or granted access to the OPSC facility, rendering the claims not only inaccurate but deliberately misleading.”

He added: “For clarity, it is important to state that there are several state-led De-radicalisation, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration (DRR) initiatives across the country which operate independently and are not under the control or supervision of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) or Defence Headquarters (DHQ).

“Individuals processed through such state-level arrangements are not recognised as participants within the DHQ-led Operation Safe Corridor framework. This distinction is critical in addressing the misinformation being circulated.”

The coordinator said upon completion of the programme, participants are formally handed over to relevant state authorities for reintegration and remain within established monitoring frameworks, adding that the programme continues to serve as a critical component of Nigeria’s counter-terrorism strategy by reducing the pool of fighters, encouraging voluntary disengagement, and supporting long-term national stability.

BREAKING NEWS: Jilli airstrike targeted terrorists’ supply routes, not civilians, says FG.

Federal Government has defended the April 11 airstrike on the Jilli axis in Gubio Local Council of Borno State, saying the operation was carefully planned to weaken terrorists’ logistics and disrupt their movement.

It assured families of military and police personnel killed in a recent attack in Shanga Local Council of Kebbi State that it will not abandon them.

Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has demanded an investigation into a recent airstrike on a market on the part of Yobe State bordering Borno, which claimed many lives. It requested inclusion in the investigative team alongside the National Assembly and representatives of affected communities.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated yesterday that the Jilli strike was based on credible intelligence and carried out by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK).

He said the location targeted had long been identified as a stronghold of insurgents, where members of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) were known to gather, collect levies and organise attacks.

“The operation was a deliberate, intelligence-led mission, not an indiscriminate attack,” the minister said.

The government explained that the Jilli axis, often referred to locally as ‘Kasu Daulaye’, had for years served as a meeting point for insurgents and a channel for supplies. It added that the area had already been classified as dangerous, with advisories warning civilians to stay away.

While acknowledging reports of civilian casualties, the government expressed sympathy with affected families and those injured.

“Every Nigerian life is sacred, and any loss of civilian life is deeply regretted,” the minister said.

BREAKING NEWS: 2027: Option narrows for electorate as PDP, LP, NNPP crises linger.

The disarray among the leading opposition parties has continued to dampen morale and limit options for the electorate ahead of the 2027 general elections. This is despite politicians’ chest-thumping and confident posturing as factions battle to outwit each other in courts at a time when the opposition should be united to put up a strong challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

As the deadline draws near for the submission of candidates vying for 2027 elections, which is expected to reach the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) next month, the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday called on its members to remain steadfast and hopeful as the Supreme Court prepares to hear a crucial leadership dispute on April 22, 2026.

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ini Ememobong, said this in a statement on Tuesday after a hearing of an appeal at the Supreme Court, challenging a ruling by the Court of Appeal affirming the High Court judgment, which nullified the last year November’s Ibadan National Convention of the party.

The convention produced the Turaki-led national executives. The FCT Minister-backed PDP had challenged the legality of the convention in court and prevailed. The Turaki camp filed an appeal, which was mentioned for the first time before the apex court on Tuesday.

Ememobong, however, said the PDP leadership urged its members nationwide to remain resolute and prayerful. He said the party is optimistic that the Supreme Court would deliver judgments that safeguard Nigeria’s democracy and prevent what it described as the enthronement of a one-party state.

The Abdulrahman Muhammed-led PDP, on the other hand, yesterday declared that the party is not engaged in any coalition or merger talks with any political group, as he reaffirmed the party’s unity and readiness to reclaim power ahead of 2027.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) held at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja, Muhammed said recent speculations about a possible alliance with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or other parties were unfounded and misleading.

He stressed that the PDP remains a strong and independent political platform with a clear vision and strategy to reposition itself as a credible alternative for Nigerians.

Muhammed, who addressed party leaders and stakeholders, said the PDP had emerged stronger and more united after overcoming a prolonged period of internal and judicial challenges that once threatened its stability. According to him, the resolution of the crisis reflects the party’s institutional resilience and the collective commitment of its members to democratic principles.
