Great design doesn’t start on a runway. It starts on a pattern.

Many aspiring fashion designers skip pattern making. They drape, cut, and hope.

But here’s what I’ve learned:
Without precise pattern making, your vision will never translate faithfully from sketch to garment. Fit fails. Proportion suffers. And no amount of embellishment can fix a broken foundation.

Pattern making is the architecture of fashion.
It’s where creativity meets calculation. Where art becomes wearable.

That’s why I applied for the Ananse’s Incubator Scholarship.

This scholarship is giving me structured, hands-on training in professional pattern drafting, garment engineering, and production-ready techniques — the kind of deep technical knowledge that separates hobbyists from industry leaders.

It’s not just about making clothes.
It’s about building a fashion brand that delivers quality, consistency, and credibility at scale.

I’m not just learning to design.
I’m learning to engineer.

And as I grow into a creative fashion entrepreneur, I’m committing to this truth:
Master the craft first. The brand will follow.

To every emerging designer reading this — don’t chase trends. Chase fundamentals.
To .fashionhub — thank you for investing in the next generation of African fashion excellence.

I’m on my way. And I’m building with intention.

Yesterday , I wasn’t just in the audience at IK Talks. I was a student of the game.

As an MC and compere, my job is to hold space, read energy, and steer attention. But sitting through those conversations—listening to industry pioneers dissect resilience, reinvention, and ruthless ex*****on—I realized something critical:

The gap between a “good host” and a “giant of the industry” isn’t mic skills. It’s strategic insight.

Here’s what shifted for me:

1. Preparation is invisible power.
The speakers didn’t just show up charismatic. They showed up over-prepared. As a compere, that means knowing not just the schedule, but the stakes behind each segment—the story, the sponsor’s intent, the speaker’s emotional arc.

2. Silence commands attention.
One panelist paused for a full seven seconds before answering a tough question. The room leaned in. I’ve learned: a great MC doesn’t fill every gap. They use stillness to elevate impact.

3. Your presence sets the permission slip.
If I walk on stage with low energy or vague intros, the audience follows. If I own the room with clarity and warmth, I give everyone else permission to do the same. That’s not hosting—that’s leadership.

How this changes my trajectory:
I’m no longer aiming to be a “working MC.” I’m building an MC who curates experiences, drives narrative, and becomes the trusted voice brands call when stakes are high.

IK Talks reminded me: authority isn’t given. It’s demonstrated, one intentional stage moment at a time.

To every speaker and organizer—thank you for the masterclass. I also met the legendary

Watch this space. The next giant is just getting started. Thank you .

Gone are the days when fashion designers were assumed to be mere “handiwork” artisans. 🧵❌

The scope of design in fashion is no different from architecture or engineering.

Think about it:

· Pattern making is blueprinting—mapping out structure, movement, and fit with mathematical precision.
· Garment construction is structural engineering—ensuring stability, durability, and functionality.
· Fabric selection is material science—understanding tension, drape, and behavior under stress.
· Finishing is the final architecture—where vision meets ex*****on.

We do not just sew. We calculate. We problem-solve. We innovate.

At the Ananse Incubator, I am learning to approach fashion with the rigor of an architect and the precision of an engineer. Moving our craft from traditional methods to modern processes that can compete on the global stage.

It is time we give fashion design the respect it deserves—as a discipline of science, structure, and strategy.

To every designer reading this: You are not just a tailor. You are a builder. An engineer. An architect of identity. 🦅

Storytelling is not just a creative skill — it is a sales weapon.

In today’s market, people don’t just buy products.
They buy meaning, identity, and solutions to their problems.

If you cannot sell in under 3 minutes, you don’t understand your audience well enough.

The foundation of powerful sales is simple:

1. Find the Pain Point
Every customer is trying to solve something — discomfort, insecurity, inconvenience, or aspiration.
Your job is to identify it clearly and speak directly to it.

2. Research Your Audience
Sales is not guessing.
It is intentional understanding.
Who are they?
What do they struggle with daily?
What do they desire but cannot articulate?

3. Tell a Story That Connects
Facts inform, but stories move people to act.
When your audience sees themselves in your narrative, the sale is already halfway done.

In business — especially in fashion —
you are not just selling fabric or design.

You are selling:
• Confidence in a room full of strangers
• Comfort in chaotic environments
• Identity in a world that tries to make people invisible

Master storytelling, and you won’t chase customers.
They will recognize themselves in your work — and come to you.

From learning the fundamentals of my refining my craft at .fashionhub Africa, I begin to understand something most people overlook, fashion is not just about making clothes, it’s about building perspective.

Being an international designer is not defined by location. It’s defined by standard.

It’s in how you think:
• How you interpret culture
• How you solve real problems through design
• How you create pieces that can exist beyond your immediate environment

I’ve had to unlearn and relearn . Because the truth is, excellence travels.

Every stitch, every concept, every collection I create is driven by a mindset that asks:
“Can this stand anywhere in the world?”

This journey is still unfolding.
But one thing is clear, being “international” is not a destination.

It’s a discipline.

I left comfort behind and chose purpose.

Moved to Lagos.
Got a scholarship.
Started the journey to becoming a trained international designer.

It’s not easy—but it’s worth it.

This is what becoming looks like.

In fashion, authority is not just built on design — it is built on understanding.

One of the most overlooked yet powerful aspects of fashion is material intelligence. The fabric you choose doesn’t just shape the outfit — it defines the experience, the perception, and ultimately, the impact.

As an international designer and creative voice, I’ve come to understand that every material speaks:

— Cotton communicates ease, accessibility, and everyday confidence.
— Silk embodies quiet power and refined luxury.
— Linen reflects intentional simplicity and elevated calm.
— Wool brings structure, discipline, and timeless tailoring.
— Denim represents culture, rebellion, and evolution.
— Ankara & Adire carry legacy — they are not just worn, they are expressed.

True fashion authority is not in following trends, but in mastering the language of fabric — knowing what to use, when to use it, and why it matters.

Because when fabric meets intention, style becomes influence.

This is how we move from just creating clothes… to shaping narratives.

What fabric best represents your personality?

We all have our stories. I choose to be a creator who advocates for dignity in labour—not by flashing bottles and fast cars, but by showing what’s possible with skill, diligence, and contentment. The truth is, I’m still building. I don’t have the money my videos might suggest, but I’m proving that hard work takes you far. If we worry that young people are inspired by the wrong voices, we must ask: what are we creating to change that? My skill has brought me this far, and I believe it will take me further.
