AKU UKA CELEBRATES ALHAJI TANKO YAKASAI @100

Today, on behalf of myself, my family, the Wukari Traditional Council, and the entire Jukun Nation, we joyfully celebrate an exceptional Nigerian, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai as he attains a remarkable milestone: 100 years of life, service, and steadfast conviction.

A century ago, in the ancient city of Kano, Alhaji Yakasai began a journey that would grow into one of purpose, courage, and national impact. Rising from modest beginnings, he charted a path defined by integrity and an uncommon devotion to the ideals of freedom and justice.

From the generation that fought for Nigeria’s freedom, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai remains one of the few still with us. A living link to the sacrifices and dreams that birthed our independence.

Following Independence in 1960, his confidence in Nigeria’s destiny remained steadfast. Across different phases of our national evolution, he served with honour in various capacities, contributing meaningfully at both state and federal levels from the First to the Second Republic.

Across the years, Alhaji Yakasai has shown a strong commitment to unity. He has always supported national dialogue, peaceful living, and democratic progress. To us in Jukunland, he stays connected to his roots and continues to promote the unity of the Kwararafa Nations. He considers Wukari his second home and is always present whenever we call on him for festivals or important events, attending with humility and honour.

Celebrating Alhaji Tanko Yakasai at 100 is a tribute to his century of patriotism, resilience, service, and unwavering faith in Nigeria’s progress.

I am deeply honoured to join his family, friends, and countless admirers in marking this glorious occasion. May the Almighty continue to surround him with peace, strength, and grace.

Happy 100th Birthday, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai.

Nigeria and the entire Kwararafa Nation salute you.

Signed:
His Majesty,
Dr. Ishaku Adda Ali Matakhitswen,
The Aku Uka.

STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE

PRESIDENT TINUBU SWEARS IN GEN. CHRISTOPHER MUSA AS MINISTER OF DEFENCE

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, swore in General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd) as Minister of Defence at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

General Musa’s appointment follows the resignation of Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar on Monday, December 1, 2025. His nomination was announced the following day and transmitted to the Senate, where it received expedited screening and confirmation.

Born in Sokoto in 1967, General Musa was commissioned as a second lieutenant into the Nigerian Army in 1991 and had a distinguished military career. He was appointed Chief of Defence Staff by President Tinubu in 2023 and retired in October 2025.

As Chief of Defence Staff, he championed inter-service security collaboration.

With his swearing-in, the new Defence Minister is expected to immediately assume duties as the Tinubu administration seeks to consolidate recent security gains and fast-track reforms aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability nationwide.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Sen. Adeniyi Adegbonmire, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Also in attendance were the spouse of the new Minister, Mrs Lilian Oghogho Musa; Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah; and Justice Kumai Bayang Akaahs (rtd).

Difference as Chief of Defence Staff and Minister of Defence

1. As CDS:

He was the highest-ranking military officer, but he reported to a political chain.

He had no authority over budgets, procurement, or policy - all of which were controlled by political actors who often had competing agendas.

He had to operate within a compromised system, rife with interference, moles, and weak command structures.

Success depended on approvals from people with political motives, not on merit or operational logic.

2. As Minister of Defence:

He is now the political head of the Ministry, giving him power to set policies, budgets, procurement priorities, and strategic direction.

He can choose his team, restructure command, and remove political obstacles that previously held him back.

He has direct access to the President, who can enforce compliance and back him fully something he never had as CDS.

His mandate is broader and deeper, allowing him to implement reforms rather than just advise.

3. The Facts You Must Understand:

A CDS can lead troops and operations but cannot fix systemic failures that are political in nature.

A Defence Minister with a competent military mind can change the system itself, creating an environment where operational success becomes possible.

Nigeria’s armed forces were crippled by weak leadership, divided command, and political meddling - none of which were his fault as CDS.

So, this is not a movie, and this is not a repeat of past failures. The difference is authority, autonomy, and systemic control. Give him the freedom, resources, and backing, and he can succeed where others could only report failures.

In short: His past “limitations” were structural, not personal. His current role gives him the tools to fix what was broken - if the political will allows it.

Nigeria is watching. The country demands results, not excuses. 🇳🇬

30/11/2025

THE HEALTHCARE RIGHT NIGERIANS DON’T KNOW THEY HAVE AND HOW HOSPITALS ARE BREAKING THE LAW EVERY DAY.

Most Nigerians don’t know this, and that ignorance is costing lives:

Since 2014, there has been a powerful law in Nigeria that gives every citizen the right to FREE emergency healthcare and basic medical services.

This law is called:

THE NATIONAL HEALTH ACT (NHA), 2014

Signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan in October 2014.

And yet, 10 years later, millions of Nigerians still don’t know it exists. Hospitals disregard the law and Ministry of Health embezzles the funds meant for it.

HERE’S WHAT THIS LAW GUARANTEES YOU (AND THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO KNOW)

Under SECTION 20, SECTION 27, and SECTION 29 of the National Health Act:

1. No hospital in Nigeria has the right to reject you during an emergency whether you have money or not.

This means:
-Accident victims
-Pregnant women in labour
-Gunshot victims
-Stroke victims
-Heart attack and asthma patients
-Children in critical condition

MUST be treated immediately whether they have money or not.

It is ILLEGAL for hospitals to demand money before saving a life.

This includes:
-Government hospitals
-Private hospitals
-Clinics
-Mission hospitals
-Specialist centres
-Teaching hospitals
-CHEWs and PHCs

ALL HEALTH FACILITIES are bound by this law.

Yes, private hospitals are also obligated to stabilize emergency patients before talking about money.

This is not advice. This is not a plea.
This is federal law.

2. The Law Also Guarantees Free Essential Healthcare Nationwide

The Act mandates that every Nigerian is entitled to a Basic Minimum Package of Health Services (BMHS), which includes:

-Free immunization
-Free antenatal care
-Free childbirth services
-Free family planning services
-Free treatment for common illnesses at PHCs
-Free care for children under 5
-Free emergency stabilization

These are not promises.
These are legal entitlements you can hold the government ad hospitals accountable for.

3. The Government Must Finance This With a Dedicated Health Fund

The National Health Act created the:

Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF)

To be funded with:

At least 1% of Nigeria’s entire Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) EVERY YEAR.

Meaning:

Even if the government doesn’t feel like it.
Even if budgets are tight.
Even if politicians claim “no money”

The law forces the government to fund:
-Primary health centers
-Drugs and medical supplies
-Health insurance for the poor
-Emergency medical systems
-Maternal and child healthcare

This money is supposed to reach all 774 LGAs.

SO WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL DYING IN FRONT OF HOSPITALS?

Because:
-Hospitals ignore the law.
-The government refuses to enforce it.
-Nigerians don’t know their rights.
-Corruption drains the BHCPF.
-Emergency care is monetized.
-PHCs are abandoned.
-Private hospitals act with impunity.

Patients are turned away for N20,000 Naira.
Women die during childbirth because nurses demand “folder fee.”
Accident victims bleed to death on floors.
Gunshot victims are rejected without police report, even though THAT is also illegal.

Nigeria do not lack good laws.
Our problem is a lack of enforcement and a lack of awareness.

MOST NIGERIANS DO NOT KNOW THEY HAVE THESE RIGHTS.
That’s why hospitals get away with murder, literally.

A Nigerian can die today in front of a hospital gate
because that hospital refused to treat them without payment.

Even though the law says:

“A health care provider SHALL NOT refuse a person emergency treatment for any reason whatsoever.”

That “SHALL NOT” is not suggestion.
It is a legal COMMAND.

WE SHOULD ALL ASK:

If the law exists, If the funding exists, If the obligation exists….

Why are Nigerians still paying with their lives?

Why do private hospitals act like they are above the law? Why do government hospitals break rules they are funded to obey?
Why does the Ministry of Health look away?
Why do we keep losing mothers in labour, accident victims, and innocent children?

Until Nigerians start demanding their rights,
and until hospitals face consequences for rejecting emergencies, this nation will continue burying people who should still be alive.

FORMER CRC-N PRESIDENT APOSTLE ISTIFANUS BALA BAHAGO RETIRES AFTER 35 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE

By Hassan Garba

Former CRC-N President, Rev. Istifanus Bala Bahago, has officially bowed out of active pastoral ministry after completing the mandatory 35 years of distinguished service to the Church.

His retirement service was held on Friday at CRC-N No. 1 Takum, Taraba State, marking the conclusion of the 161st Synod of the CRC-N.

Preaching at the service, Athe President of CRC-N, Rev. Dr. Isaiah Magaji Jirapye, drew his message from 2 Timothy 4:1–8.

He praised the former president for his exemplary service to God and the Church, noting that Apostle Istifanus Bahago life has impacted countless people.

He urged worshippers to strive to “end well” in whatever they do.

Rev. Dr. Magaji said the Church is proud of Apostle Bahago for finishing strong and leaving behind a legacy of faithful service.

He explained that the purpose of the ceremony was to thank God’s servant for his decades of commitment, describing him as a man of great patience, an important virtue for anyone desiring to finish well.

He added that anyone who serves God faithfully is never abandoned, and reminded congregants that everyone has the potential to achieve great things if they submit to God.

He further emphasized that wherever one works is a ministry and a place of divine calling.

A major highlight of the event was the launch of Apostle Bahago’s autobiography, "Honey From the Rock", authored by Mr. Faje Bawa.

The 344-page book was reviewed by Prof. Peter Wicker, Head of the Department of Sociology at the University of Jos, Plateau State.

Other highlights included special prayers for the retiring servant of God, free-will donations, and various goodwill presentations.

Apostle Istifanus Bala Bahago, after completing his two tenures as President, also served in Sierra Leone and other African countries, where he was instrumental in planting several churches.

CRC-N ORDAINS 17 INTO PASTORAL MINISTRY

By Hassan Garba

The Christian Reformed Church–Nigeria CRC-N has ordained 17 new pastors to serve in various capacities across the church.

The ordination took place on Thursday during the ongoing Synod of the Church in Takum, Taraba State.

In his exhortation, the President of CRC-N, Rev. Dr. Isaiah Jirapye Magaji, drew his message from Titus 1:4–5 and spoke on the theme “The Purpose of Your Ordination.”

He reminded the newly ordained pastors that God called them into ministry for a reason and urged them to continually return to God in prayer to rediscover and reaffirm their calling so they can serve effectively.

According to Rev. Dr. Magaji, God never sends His children on an assignment without a purpose.

He added that the locations where they may be posted are secondary, insisting that carrying out God’s purpose faithfully is what truly matters.

He warned them against rebellion, arrogance, and other attitudes unbecoming of their calling, urging them to remain committed to the doctrines of the CRC-N.

He emphasized that they were called to build the church, not to tear it down, and encouraged them to be of good character and to prioritize God in all things.

Speaking further, he noted that wherever people live socially, sin is present.

He charged the pastors to correct societal ills, enthrone Christ, pull down strongholds of darkness, and put things in order in their areas of assignment.

The ordination service featured song ministrations, special prayers, and the formal rites of ordination in line with CRC-N doctrine, among other highlights.

TARABA BEGINS FULL ENFORCEMENT OF NEW STANDARDIZED ‘TARABA SACK’

The Taraba State Government has begun full enforcement of Executive Order No. 9 of 2025, making the Taraba Sack the only approved sack for packaging agricultural produce in the state.

The Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry confirmed that the transition period given to dealers ended on 1st December 2025, and the use or entry of any non-standard sacks is now suspended across all LGAs, including Ngada and Yangtu SDAs.

Truck owners, drivers, and marketers have been warned to comply, as any vehicle found with non-approved sacks will be confiscated for investigation. A taskforce backed by security agencies will lead enforcement.

The government says the measure will protect farmers, ensure fair trade, and strengthen the identity of Taraba’s agricultural products.

Thank you.
