Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero.

The arrest was carried out at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja this morning.

According to sources, Ajaero was about to board a flight to the United Kingdom for an official assignment when he was picked up by the DSS personnel.

The reasons behind his arrest are still unclear, but sources revealed that he has been handed over to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

Recall that Ajaero was scheduled to attend the conference of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the UK, which is slated to be held today.

Senator David S.U. Jimkuta, today, attended the prestigious wedding ceremony of Barrister Kezia Kefas, daughter of Taraba State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas. The Senator arrived Jalingo with the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shetima.

The ceremony brought together esteemed dignitaries, including the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, and his Borno State counterpart, His Excellency Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum. Members of the PDP Governors' Forum and numerous other prominent figures also graced the occasion.

It is with great joy as a father, that I witnessed the marriage ceremony between my daughter, Keziah and her Groom, Bitrus. We are happy as a family to host friends, political associates and distinguished personalities from within and outside Taraba State.

Former President, H.E. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Nigeria's Vice President, H.E. Kashim Shettima and the PDP Governors' Forum, were top on the list of those who joined us in celebrating this Union. My sincere appreciation to everyone who honoured our Invitation.

At least 15 lifeless bodies have been recovered and deposited in three mortuaries in Jos, while 77 persons are receiving treatment in various hospitals across the state capital, following the tragic collapse of Saint Academy school building in Jos.

Witnesses earlier reported that a school building, Saint Academy situated in Busa Buji in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, collapsed on Friday morning, trapping numerous students and teachers inside.

The incident occurred around 11 am while the students were taking exams.

Parents, yet to reunite with their children, have now flooded the hospitals, desperate to locate and ascertain the condition of their loved ones.

Investigations reveal that Our Lady of Apostles Hospital Mortuary has received five corpses, with 27 injured persons receiving treatment. Bingham Teaching Hospital Morgue has received eight corpses, with 16 others receiving treatment, while Plateau Specialist Hospital has recorded two deaths and 34 injured students, including two with spinal cord injuries.

Jos University Teaching Hospital and other medical facilities within the state capital are also providing immediate medical attention to the injured.

Reports have it that the joint security task force, Operation Safe Haven, has mobilized five Hilux vehicles and 30 troops to support the rescue operation.

Excavators, volunteers, security personnel, and Red Cross members are still working tirelessly to rescue trapped students under the rubble.

Meanwhile, the Plateau state government has instructed hospitals to prioritize treatment without documentation or payment and has ordered all major hospitals in Jos to attend to the victims.

Approximately 200 people were trapped, with many evacuated.

On a sad note:

"Tragedy has struck the family of former PDP Chairman, Inuwa Bakari, as his 8-year-old granddaughter, Nana Khadija Habib Bako, sadly passed away in a swimming pool accident at CTC Swimming Pool in Jalingo.

According to eyewitnesses, including a Taraba News Reporter, the young girl was accompanied by her mother at the time of the incident.

Our condolences go out to the Bakari family during this difficult time."
