🟥 Manchester United are getting the best out of a player they've tried to sell twice this year
Had Manchester United got their way, Casemiro would no longer be at Old Trafford.
United tried to sell the Brazilian midfielder in both the January and summer transfer windows, but no deal materialised. The club was even willing to let him go for around £15 million to stay within Profitability and Sustainability Rules — yet no buyer stepped forward.
Despite the club’s push to refresh their midfield options, Casemiro’s big wages made it difficult to bring in new faces. Ironically, seven weeks after the summer window closed, he’s proving his worth once again.
Under Ruben Amorim, Casemiro looks revitalised. The manager has adjusted his role — he no longer needs to cover huge areas of the pitch. Instead, he sits deep, shields the defence, and breaks up play — the kind of job that suits his experience perfectly.
Amorim has also learned from past mistakes. When Casemiro got booked against Chelsea, he was left on and later sent off. Against Liverpool, Amorim didn’t take chances — he subbed him off the moment he saw yellow.
United are still expected to strengthen in midfield next summer, with Carlos Baleba (Brighton) and Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) among potential targets. The club could trigger a one-year extension in Casemiro’s deal — but only if he accepts reduced wages.
If this turns out to be his final season at Old Trafford, then United are at least getting the best of him before he goes. 💪🇧🇷
