Pregnancy is not time to manage😭😭😭
I just got off the phone with one of our preggy mamas and what she told me has me chilled to my bones.
She was crying, shaking and trying to make sense of what had just happened.
Her close friend-9 months pregnant-di*d.
Please, this story is one you should read and share immediately to raise awareness.
Our society is slowly becoming something else!😭😭
Her friend didn't di* from childbirth.
Not an accident.
Not from any known pregnancy complication.
But from a dr*g that should NEVER have been used or brought anywhere close to the delivery room.
A dr*g banned for this kind of use.
Chloroquine, given to her to induce labour.
What? Yes you read that right😭😭
Now hear this:
Her friend had decided to use a small,
"affordable" hospital close to her home.
Money was tight and she figured,
"it's just delivery, abi no be the same thing everywhere?"
She didn't think it was a big deal.
The man there wore a white coat and was called a doctor. He had many accolades and a long list of testimonials to his name so she did not smell the troubl* brewing.
But this so-called "doctor" told her:
"Madam, your baby get malaria, that's why he no wan come. Take this Chloroquine, as your body Dey scratch.
E go scratch the baby inside too. Labour go start, you go born sharp-sharp"
Yes. That's what he said.
That's the level of m*dness going on.
And she believed him.
Desperate, tired, hopeful. This was her first pregnancy.
She took the drug and went into vi*lent labour.
It was nothing like she expected.
She scramed for hours.
She bl*d... and bl*d... and bl*d.
By the time help could come, it was too late.
She di*d and the baby di*d too.
And guess what?
The hospital hushed it up.
There was no official announcement or accountability. They just quietly moved on like it was an unfortunate incident.
If not for a kind nurse who confided in her friend and warned her NEVER to deliver there, she wouldn't have known the real story.
"Please don't come here to deliver. Find somewhere else. They've done this to others too but no one speaks. People just disappear." The nurse said
Let me be clear:
Chloroquine is NOT for inducing labour.
It can cause:
• Preterm labour
• Fetal distr*s
• Excessive uterine contractions
• Stillbirth
• Maternal d*ath
And yet, these quacks are charging 10,000 NGN per dose to play God with innocent women's lives!
My heart is heavy.
I cannot stop thinking about that mother and her baby.
What if someone had wärned her earlier?
What if she had known that this was not normal?
This is more than medical malpractice!
This is murd*r wrapped in fake professionalism.
It is exploitation.
It is gre*d.
It is the brut* reality many women face in underfunded, unregulated communities.
How many more women have to di* before we call this out?
How many babies have to be löst before the government, community leaders, and health workers say ENOUGH?
This is not just ignorance.
It is cruelty. It is wickedness. It's murd*r in disguise.
Please, I beg you, DO NOT go to just any hospital.
Verify who is treating you.
Don't hand over your life or your baby's life to anyone just because they wear lab coat.
Ask questions.
Go to verified clinics.
Warn the women around you.
Don't take dr*gs you don't understand especially during pregnancy.
If something feels off, it probably is.
Your life and your baby's life are too precious to risk.
We need to call this out.
Too many women are dy!ng in silence.
Let's stop pretending like it's not happening.
