Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme Hosts Akwa Ibom State Delegation on Study Tour
In recognition of its outstanding achievements and reputation as one of Nigeria's leading government-owned health insurance agencies, the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme (BHIS) yesterday received a delegation from the Akwa Ibom State Government's Social Health Insurance Agency on a study and capacity-building visit.
The visit was aimed at providing the delegation with firsthand knowledge of BHIS's operational framework, administrative processes, and best practices that have contributed to the Scheme's remarkable success in delivering quality and accessible healthcare services to the people of Bayelsa State.
The delegation was warmly received by the Executive Secretary of the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme, who welcomed the team and conducted them on a guided tour of the Insurance House. During the tour, they visited key departments and units, where they were introduced to the Scheme's operational procedures, digital systems, customer service processes, provider management, enrolment strategies, and other innovative practices that have positioned BHIS as a benchmark for health insurance administration in Nigeria.
The visit further strengthened inter-state collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the collective commitment to improving health insurance delivery across the country. BHIS remains dedicated to supporting other state health insurance agencies through the exchange of ideas, technical expertise, and proven strategies that advance universal health coverage in Nigeria.
