NEMA ZONAL HEAD OF OPERATIONS PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO SC BAYELSA

The State Coordinator, NYSC Bayelsa state, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity today - Friday, 19/9/25 - received the Zonal Head of Operations, (Rivers and Bayelsa)National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Mr Eric Ebhodaghe.

She welcomed the Zonal Head of Operations and members of his entourage and expressed appreciation to the Team lead and his members for taking out time to come all the way from Port Harcourt for the visit.

She observed that for some time now, the NEMA has slowed down activities, especially in the collaboration that birthed NYSC/NEMA Community Development Service group in the state.

She informed the visitor that NYSC/NEMA group CDS is very active in its operationl in Bayelsa State and called for more support for their projects and programmes.

Earlier, the NEMA Zonal Head of Operations, Mr. Eric Ebhodaghe thanked the State Coordinator and management staff for the warm reception.

Speaking during the visit he recalled his National Youth Service Corps days in Kaduna and said that the scheme has played a critical role in transformation of his life.

He said the essence of the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two organisations for improved mutual working
relationship.

He praised the NYSC for helping NEMA reach where it could not reach. "NEMA can not be every where, but Corps members are everywhere serving in all the nooks and crannies of various communities in the country."

He assured that NEMA would henceforth be fully involved in the activities and programmes of the NYSC/ NEMA group CDS.

Highlight of the visit was signing of visitor's book by the Zonal Head of Operations and presentation of publications between the NYSC State Coordinator and Zonal Head of Operations of NEMA as well as taking group photographs.

SC BAYELSA HARPS ON MAINTAINING INTEGRITY OF ORIENTATION COURSE.

As 2025 Batch B, Stream 2 Orientation course draws near, the State Coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity today, Thursday 18TH September, 2025 presided over two strategic meetings and enjoined camp participants to ensure integrity of the orientation course in the Bayelsa state.

The first meeting was held with Heads of Collaborating Agencies and Committees while the second was with NYSC staff.
During the first meeting, the State Coordinator welcomed and appreciated them for candid synergy recorded during the 2025 Batch B, Stream 1 orientation course and enjoined them to remain committed and resilient in order to achieve greater success in the forth coming orientation course.
Mrs Okpalifo also urged the Heads of Collaborating Agencies and committees to deploy Emotional Intelligence and empathy in dealing with prospective corps members and camp officials. She urged officials to warmly welcome the Prospective corps members to the camp.

The State Coordinator reminded the officials that the theme of Batch A 2025 stream two orientation course "Maintaining The Integrity Of The Orientation Course In The Face Of Competing Interests" and all extant rules and guiding the orientation course still subsist
while urging them to lead by example. She emphasized that discipline can not be compromised. She strictly warned against over socialisation, extortion and other unethical practices .
She also harped on security, synergy, team work and advised officials to be sensitive to their health status.
She introduced Sir Anumaka Raymond Kennedy as the Camp Director and Mr Afe Oluiwafemi as the Deputy Camp Director.
She further charged all Heads of Collaborating Agencies and
Committees to step down key information to their respective subordinates and personnel.

In his remarks, the Camp Director, Sir Anumaka Raymond Kennedy, represented by the Deputy Camp Director, Mr. Afe Oluwafemi appealed for mutual cooperation from all camp officials.
In his comment, the Camp Commandant, Maj. G Onche urged all camp officials to synergie to ensure a hitch free orientation course .Other heads of Collaborating Agencies and Committees expressed their readiness and that of their men to effectively participate in the orientation exercise.

In a related development, the State Coordinator
presided over the NYSC staff pre - camp meeting. She commended them for their commitment demonstrated during the last orientation that culminated to successful orientation course.

She further harped on synergy, cooperation, team work and commitment to assigned duties.
She appealed to staff to be empathetic to their needs of corps members and
warned that management would not tolerate any form of extortion and negligence to assigned duties.
In his remarks, The Camp Director, who was represented by the Deputy Camp Director solicited for the support of all staff. He sued for display of cordial relationship among camp officials and cordial interaction with corps members.
In a similar vein, all NYSC staff who attended workshops recently were granted opportunity to present highlights of information obtained at the workshops.
In her closing remarks ,the state coordinator urged members to prepare adequately for their families before leaving their various homes. She prayed for journey mercy for all Prospective corps members and camp officials to orientation camp.

Report on Editorial Board CDS Project Commissioning

The NYSC Bayelsa State Coordinator, Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, has charged members of the Editorial Board CDS group to remain steadfast in their commitment to creating lasting impact within their local communities and the NYSC Scheme at large. She gave this charge while commissioning two projects executed by the group: the renovated office of the Zonal Inspector of Yenagoa Zone and the newly inaugurated Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity Library/Studio.

The Zonal Inspector’s office was renovated by the group as their Community Development Service (CDS) project, while the library and studio — first initiated by the immediate past administration of the Editorial Board CDS — were completed and officially commissioned under the current group. Commending their initiative, the State Coordinator praised the corps members’ thoughtfulness and courage in executing the projects. She further appreciated the Scheduling Officer, Chaplain Professor Mathew Ngobua, who also serves as Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations, for his visionary mentorship, and the Media Officer, Mr. Jonah Maovie, for overseeing the successful ex*****on of the projects.

The event was attended by the Zonal Inspector of Yenagoa Zone, Mr. Ogbete Dasime, who expressed gratitude for the facelift given to his office, alongside the Local Government Inspector of Yenagoa, Mrs. Nelly Koru, other NYSC officials, and leading members of the Editorial Board CDS group.

2025 BATCH 'B' STREAM 2 ORIENTATION COMMENCES SEPT 24, 2025

The 2025 Batch 'B' Stream Two Orientation Course has been scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 24th September, 2025 in all NYSC Orientation Camps across the country.

Camp Registration for all Corps Members will hold between Wednesday 24th and Friday 26th September, 2025.

The Swearing-in Ceremony holds on Friday 26th September, while the Closing Ceremony will take place on Tuesday 14th October, 2025.

The Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu wishes all Prospective Corps Members safety of travel to their respective Orientation Camps.

He also advised them not to embark on night journeys while travelling to their Orientation Camps.

REPORT FOR CORPERS’ LOUNGE, HELD ON SEPTEMBER 12TH 2025 AT GLORY FM

Friday 12th of September 2025 was another enlightening edition of the Corpers’ Lounge radio program on Glory FM 97.1. The show began promptly with Olumide Abiodun as the anchor and Judith Nnakee as the co-anchor. After the opening introductions, the news segment was read by Benedicta Roberts.

The news highlights featured the NYSC DG rewarding three corps members for creativity, as well as corps members expressing appreciation for the timely payment of Allowee arrears and state allowances.

Following the news, the program overview was presented, and after a brief musical interlude, the main session commenced. The anchor, Olumide Abiodun, introduced the day’s topic: “Stress Management: Finding Balance in a Demanding World”, and welcomed the guests for the session, Chisom Doris and Abdullah Sulton.

The interactive discussion centered on the causes of stress faced by corps members and the importance of developing healthy coping mechanisms. The guests highlighted practical stress management strategies such as time management, regular exercise, meditation, and maintaining supportive social connections. They emphasized that finding balance is key to productivity and overall well-being in today’s demanding world.

In conclusion, the guests encouraged corps members to prioritize self-care, seek help when needed, and cultivate habits that promote both mental and physical health. The Amazing Facts segment was taken by Tenderly Sia Sia, after which the show was wrapped up.
