ADAMAWA DEVELOPMENT

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri today presided over the 15th meeting of the Adamawa State Executive Council, where the council approved funds amounting to over 30 billion for major projects in infrastructure, education, broadcasting, road construction, and human capital development.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, said the approvals include 21.8 billion for additional works on the Adamawa Super Highway from Welcome to Yola through Rumde Kila to AA lawal Junction, and 2.4 billion for the construction of internal roads at the Army Barracks.

Also approved is 184.2 million for the rehabilitation of studio complexes and installation of new FM and AM transmitters at Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, Yola and Mambamba booster station.

In the education sector, the council endorsed 4.5 billion for overseas scholarships for 100 postgraduate students, and 395 million for the purchase of assorted science textbooks for junior and senior secondary schools across the state.

Other approvals include 1.6 billion for the rehabilitation of the NYSC orientation camp gate Borong road in Girei/Demsa axis, and the construction of a modern Adamawa State Amusement Park in Yola North to boost recreation and tourism.

Commissioner Iliya explained that these projects reflect the government’s commitment to balanced development, covering infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, and security welfare.
