“Stay With APC and Build It, Or Leave” — Jamilu Yusuf Warns Adamawa Party Members

Yola_Nigeria
8th August 2026

As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum in Adamawa State, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Malam Jamilu Yusuf, has called on members of the party to demonstrate loyalty and refrain from actions that could undermine the APC.

Yusuf made the call while addressing APC members in the state, particularly those who recently joined the party from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political platforms.

He urged new members to understand that joining a political party comes with responsibilities, including commitment, patience and loyalty, stressing that members who genuinely believe in the APC should contribute to strengthening the party from within.

According to him, political seasons are temporary, but decisions taken during such periods can have lasting consequences.

Yusuf advised members to draw lessons from the experiences of some “legacy APC” members who, he said, engaged in anti-party activities in the past and later regretted their decisions.

He also cautioned against supporting opposition interests while remaining members of the APC, noting that political alliances can change when circumstances and calculations shift.

He said anyone who no longer believes in the APC or does not wish to see the party succeed has the freedom to seek another political platform.

However, he maintained that those who choose to remain in the APC should demonstrate their commitment by supporting the party and avoiding activities that could weaken its electoral prospects.

“APC is a political family. Let us build it from within rather than destroy it from within,” Yusuf said.

He further advocated greater discipline, trust, loyalty and internal democracy within the party, urging members to learn from past political experiences rather than repeat them.

Yusuf stressed that his message was not targeted at any particular person, describing it as a sincere appeal to APC members, especially those who recently joined the party.

He urged party members to consider the long-term implications of their political choices, saying:

“Let us think about tomorrow while making our decisions today.”

PDP Governorship Candidate Calls for Public Debate Among Adamawa 2027 Candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2027 Adamawa election, Chief Maurice Vunobolki, has called on all governorship candidates and their running mates to participate in a public debate ahead of the polls.

Vunobolki made the call during the official presentation of Hon. Alhaji Abubakar Mahmud Wambai as the PDP deputy governorship candidate and the inauguration of Adamu Hammantukur Ribadu as Director-General of the party’s 2027 Campaign Council.

According to him, the proposed debate would provide Adamawa residents with an opportunity to evaluate the competence, vision and leadership qualities of those seeking to govern the state.

He expressed confidence in the PDP’s ticket, describing it as a team with the experience, credibility, grassroots support and capacity required to move Adamawa forward.

The PDP standard-bearer urged political parties and stakeholders to embrace issue-based campaigns, stressing that open debates would promote accountability and enable voters to make informed decisions ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

2027: Is Omarana Set to Back Haske? Fresh ADC Alliance Rumours Spark Debate in Adamawa

Political conversations across Adamawa have intensified following unconfirmed reports suggesting that Ambassador Omar Suleiman, popularly known as Omarana, may withdraw from the 2027 governorship race in support of fellow aspirant, Alhaji Abdulrahman Haske.

Sources familiar with developments within the ADC claim that consultations between supporters of both politicians are progressing, with speculation that an official position could emerge in the coming days.

Should the reports prove accurate, political analysts believe the move could significantly alter the dynamics of the 2027 governorship contest. There are also growing rumours that the alleged arrangement could see the Mubi axis produce the party’s deputy governorship candidate.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Ambassador Omar Suleiman (Omarana), Alhaji Abdulrahman Haske, nor the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued any official statement confirming or denying the speculation.

Adamawa Facts 24 will continue to monitor the situation and provide verified updates as events unfold.

Galadima is set to write history, but Fintiri will give him the Pen.
— Solomon Kumangar

Former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and former Director General of Media to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Mr. Solomon Kumangar, says the emergence of APC Govdrnorship Candidate, Alh Ahmed Tijjani Aminu Galadima is significant, and that the electorate, under Governor Fintiri's leadership, will determine the outcome of the 2027 governorship election.

Kumangar summed up his position with the statement: "Galadima is set to write history, but Fintiri will give him the pen."

Recall that Mr. Kumangar is the author of the recently launched book, "Fintiri: The Man They Could Not Beat," which chronicles Governor Fintiri's political journey, his administration's achievements, and the events that shaped the 2023 Adamawa governorship election. The publication gives detailed attention to the highly contested election and the widely discussed Binani–Hudu saga, highlighting how the legal and electoral processes eventually affirmed Fintiri's victory.

Kamale Counters Abbo, Defends Record Ahead of 2027 Adamawa Governorship Race.

The political contest ahead of the 2027 Adamawa governorship election continues to gather momentum, with APC Deputy Governorship candidate, Hon. Adamu Kamale, firing back at recent remarks made by former Senator Ishaku Abbo (SIA).

Kamale accused the former senator of relying on self-acclaim and emotional narratives to sway public opinion instead of allowing his record in office to speak for itself.

He noted that although Abbo acknowledged receiving about ₦220 million annually for constituency projects during his tenure in the Senate, Michika reportedly benefited from only three health centres. Kamale maintained that his own time in the House of Representatives, despite having fewer resources, produced more visible projects and opportunities for the people.

Responding to Abbo’s repeated references to alleged betrayal and assassination attempts, Kamale argued that public office should be assessed by tangible achievements and the impact made on the lives of the people, rather than recurring personal accounts.

The APC chieftain also defended his working relationship with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, saying the collaboration has facilitated the ex*****on of roads, schools, healthcare facilities, markets and other developmental projects across Michika and other parts of Adamawa State.

Kamale further described Abbo’s comments regarding the deputy governorship position as disrespectful to the people of Michika, insisting the area has competent leaders capable of occupying any elective office, including that of Deputy Governor.

With both politicians trading claims over their respective contributions to Michika’s development, the political rivalry is expected to remain a major talking point as preparations for the 2027 governorship election continue.

Observation: As the election season draws closer, political actors are increasingly highlighting their achievements while questioning those of their opponents. Ultimately, voters will decide based on the records they consider most credible and impactful.

Adamawa 2027: Concerned Citizen Urges ADC to Replace Governorship Candidate with Abdulrahman Haske

A concerned citizen of Adamawa State, identified as D.D. Luwa, has written an open letter to the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with a copy to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, appealing for the reconsideration of the party’s governorship candidacy in the state ahead of the 2026/2027 elections.

The letter, addressed to the ADC National Chairman through the party’s Adamawa State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin, called on the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to consider Alhaji Abdulrahman Haske as its governorship candidate, describing him as a figure capable of uniting the three senatorial zones of Adamawa State and broadening the party’s electoral appeal.

According to the writer, the appeal followed what he described as extensive consultations with stakeholders across the state’s 21 local government areas, including traditional elders, women leaders, youths and community representatives.

While making the request, Luwa acknowledged the emergence of Hon. Omrana as the party’s governorship candidate through the party’s internal democratic process, commending him for his commitment and service to the party.

He, however, appealed to the ADC leadership to engage Hon. Omrana in consultations and seek his voluntary withdrawal in what he described as the overall interest of Adamawa State and the party, stressing that such a move should be handled with dignity and mutual respect.

The letter further urged the party to ensure that any decision regarding candidate substitution strictly complies with the provisions of Section 33 of the Electoral Act 2022 and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including approval by the National Working Committee and timely submission of all required nomination documents.

Luwa maintained that his intervention was motivated by the desire to see credible leadership, peaceful elections and sustainable development in Adamawa State.

The ADC leadership has yet to officially respond to the appeal at the time of filing this report.

Maimuna Yusuf Fires Back at Former Atiku Ally, Dr. Aslam Aliyu Over Defection to APC

A fresh war of words has erupted following the defection of former Atiku Abubakar supporter, Dr. Aslam, from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Maimuna Yusuf criticized Dr. Aslam over her recent comments in which she reportedly vowed to reveal “secrets” about former Vice President Atiku Abubakar after leaving his political camp.

Reacting to the claim, Maimuna dismissed the alleged “secrets,” insisting that what Dr. Aslam possesses are merely recordings of telephone conversations, which she described as nothing extraordinary. She accused the former Atiku loyalist of betrayal, arguing that such conduct reflects a pattern of disloyalty rather than genuine revelations.

Maimuna further alleged that she also has videos involving Dr. Aslam and challenged her to publicly disclose whatever information she claims to have against Atiku Abubakar.

Maimuna also advised Atiku Abubakar to be more cautious about those granted close access to him, urging him to limit private phone conversations and ensure visitors do not carry mobile phones into sensitive meetings.

Defending the former Vice President, Maimuna described Atiku Abubakar as a respected family man and maintained that his contributions played a significant role in elevating the political profile of several former associates.

The exchange follows Dr. Aslam’s recent defection from the ADC to the APC, where she granted interviews suggesting she would expose undisclosed information about her former political principal.
