Official Launch of Maternal Newborn Child Health Week in Adamawa State Held at Ngourore PHCC
The official launch of the Maternal Newborn Child Health Week in Adamawa State took place at Ngourore Primary Health Care Centre, Ngourore. Yola South LGA Àdamawa State
The Executive Governor of Adamawa State,RT Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri represented by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa G. Farauta, welcomed all participants. In her speech, she urged benefiting mothers to take full advantage of the government’s efforts to improve lives by providing and promoting healthcare across the state.
She highlighted nutrition as one of the key deficiencies bedeviling communities and stressed that it is paramount to control it for better child and maternal outcomes.
Prof. Farauta also expressed appreciation to critical development partners — IRC, UNICEF, WHO, UNFPA, Helen Keller International, SFH, etc.— for their great support to the state and its people. She assured them of the government’s continued support and collaboration.
The Executive Chairman of Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Sulaiman Saidu Bashir, in his remarks called on mothers and caregivers to make use of healthcare services at PHCs. He noted that the Adamawa State government provides numerous basic health needs at primary health facilities.
Addressing the community, he emphasized: _“A healthy community is a vaccinated community.”_ According to Dr. Bashir, the safety and health of a child translates to reduction in out-of-pocket expenses for households. He urged families to be cautious about household health.
In a key highlight of the event, the Deputy Governor and other stakeholders distributed laptops to M&E Officers across the state to enhance documentation of data for informed decision-making.
Stakeholders also stressed the significance of community engagement. Parents were called to be proactive and sensitive in accessing services, as vaccines and other child health services are safe and free. The community thanked the government for reaching out to launch the campaign in their locality.
