Adamawa Govt Ready To Remodel Yola Market

Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged Yola market traders to cooperate with Government as it plans to remodel the market soon.

According to the Governor, the government has already constituted a committee that will investigate the extent of damage, those affected and report back for intervention.

The Governor stated this when he visited scene of Yola market disaster to commiserate with the victims and the entire Yola community.

He sympathizes with the affected shop owners and urged them to take it as an act of God, saying that the unfortunate situation happened to pave way for development.

“If you cooperate with Government, in the next one month Government will begin rebuilding process of the market to a modern day standard”

However, he drew attention of the market men and women on expected changes that will take place as Government plans to remodeling the market to a required standard and tackle fears of any fire outbreak.

He assured that Government will intervene in the situation especially those affected with the aim of cushioning the loses incurred by the traders lamenting that Government isn’t happy with the development, especially at this critical time of the nations economy.

The Governor lamented that this is the second time the market got burnt down by fire disaster, thereby subjecting the people in pain. He stressed that Government will rise to the occasion and bring lasting solution.

Earlier while briefing the Governor on the development, the Chairman Gamzaki traders association, Ali Kachalla and the leader of the market, Umaru Sarkin Kasuwa, both appreciated the Governor for his assurances to remodeling the market to a required standard.

According to them this is the second time the Governor was coming to the aid of victims with cash donation and pledged to cooperate and support his administration.

ADAMAWA STATE UNVEILS DEVELOPMENT PLAN COMMITTEE

In a significant step towards shaping the future of Adamawa State, the Executive Governor Rt Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, through his Deputy Governor Professor Kelatapwa George Farauta, inaugurated the Adamawa State Development Plan Committee.

Leading the Charge: The committee will be chaired by Barrister Awwal D. Tukar, Secretary to the State Government. Defining the Mission: Deputy Governor Farauta, representing Governor Fintiri, clearly outlined the committee's responsibilities.

They are tasked with strategically planning the government's development trajectory, aligning with the current administration's eight-point agenda.Focus on Grassroots Impact: The committee's core mission is to craft development programs that directly benefit the people at the grassroots level, ensuring the prosperity and well-being of all Adamawa citizens.

Adamawa Inaugurates Committee for Federal Government Dry Season Farming Scheme

The Adamawa State government has inaugurated a committee to implement the National Agricultural Growth Scheme and Agro-Pocket Program (NAGS-APP) in the state. The committee, which was inaugurated by the secretary to the state government, Barrister Awwal D Tukur, is representing the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

The NAGS-APP program is a federal government initiative aimed at promoting dry season farming in the state. The Adamawa State committee is tasked with overseeing the implementation of the program in the state.

The committee is comprised of representatives from various stakeholders, including:

* The state coordinator of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD)
* The Adamawa State Commissioner for Agriculture (as vice chairman)
* The Adamawa State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs
* The NAGS-APP State focal person
* A representative of the River Basin Development Authority (RBDA) covering the state
* A representative of the state Agricultural Development Projects (ADPs)
* A representative of the ICT Service provider
* A representative of relevant commodity associations
* Security agencies
* A representative of the Bank of Agriculture
* A representative of the Nigerian Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL Plc)
* Representatives of all farmers' associations in Nigeria
* A representative of traditional rulers

Speaking on behalf of the governor, Barrister Tukur urged the committee members to be steadfast, proactive, and committed in discharging their duties. He emphasized the importance of dry season farming in boosting food security and improving the income of citizens in the state. He also expressed appreciation to the federal government for its efforts to reduce hardship among the people of Adamawa State.

Governor of Adamawa State RT Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, appeal to Federal government to put all necessary mechanism in place for the actualisation of Mambila hydro electric dam project, for the overall development of the region.
It is worthy of note that the Mambila HEPP 3050MW power project designed to be the largest single Hydro power project in Nigeria has been on the drawing board for 50 years; a $5.7 billions dollars contract was signed by the Buhari administration with a Chinese consortium lead by CGGC with Sino Hydro and CCEC as partners to be funded by the Chinese Exim Bank of 85% of the turnkey project whilst Nigerian Government will commit 15% of the funds as Pre Commencement Activities (PCA) of resettlement and basic infrastructure critical to the project including an airstrip up the mambila Hills, which has the highest altitude of Chabbal Waddeh.

The Governor made the appealed at the 10th year anniversary celebration of His Royal Majesty, Dr Shehu Baju II, the chief of Mambila.

The Governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Hon. Awwal D. Tukur, Sardauna Gashaka and Wakilin Ganye;

GOV. FINTIRI RECEIVES EDUCATION MINISTER

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri told the minister of education, Professor Tahir Mamman that "you're our vice president in Adamawa. "

He stated this when the minister visited him in the Government House Yola.

Governor Fintiri commended the minister for addressing issues of ASUU and other problems in the education sector.

The Minister, in his remarks, said he was in the Government House to greet the Governor having been in the state for the Yuletide break.

Christmas: Be Reminded Of The Boundless Compassion And Love Bestowed By God-Governor Fintiri

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has felicitated with Christmas in the State on the occasion of the 2023 Christmas.
“As the joyous season of Christmas envelops us in its warmth and splendour, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the Adamawa Christian community and indeed all Nigerians.”

Governor Fintiri who noted that Christmas is a time of reflection, gratitude and love, reminded Christians of the boundless compassion and selfless love that God bestowed upon humanity through the birth of Jesus Christ. “In the spirit of this festive season, let us come together as one united family, transcending religious and cultural differences, to celebrate the values of peace, harmony, and goodwill towards all.”

While congratulating the faithful for witnessing another Christmas, the Governor said, “To the Christian community in Adamawa State, I convey my sincere appreciation for your invaluable contributions to the development and progress of our dear state. Your commitment to faith, family, and community service is a source of inspiration, and I am grateful for the positive impact you continue to make.”

He advised residents of the State to reflect the true spirit of Christmas, through reaching out to those less fortunate, offering a helping hand and sharing the blessings received.

Barr. Awwal D. Tukur has commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the provision of an ICT hub in the state.
He made the commendation during a one day interactive session of the Adamawa State government (ADSG) on ICT workshop group.
The SSG also saluted the state government for the provision of free internet services to the Adamawa people and asked them to extend the gesture.
He said this administration will continue to partner with organisations to provide job opportunities for youths in Adamawa.

The former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party was also Governor of the defunct Gongola State.
