PRESS RELEASE
By Dr. Salihu Bakari Girei
On the Occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary
October 1, 2025
As Nigeria marks her 65th Independence Anniversary, I extend heartfelt felicitations to the people of Adamawa State. Today offers us not only the joy of celebration but also the opportunity to reflect on our journey as a state within the Nigerian federation, our achievements, our challenges, and the shared vision for a brighter future.
Over the decades, Adamawa has remained a symbol of resilience, hard work, and cultural richness. From our farmers who sustain food production, to our entrepreneurs, teachers, civil servants, and security personnel, the people of Adamawa have continually demonstrated courage and innovation in the face of adversity. Our diversity spanning languages, faiths, and traditions remains a strength that enriches our collective identity.
While we celebrate, let us also acknowledge the pressing issues we must confront as a state: insecurity, youth unemployment, and the need for sustainable infrastructure and social services. These challenges require unity, collaboration, and a renewed sense of patriotism from every citizen.
I urge the people of Adamawa to deepen their commitment to peace, accountability, and community development. Let us continue to support government efforts in promoting good governance, transparency, and inclusive policies that directly improve the lives of our people. With our vibrant youth population, vast agricultural potential, and entrepreneurial energy, Adamawa can serve as a model of progress within Nigeria.
At 65 years of independence, Nigeria stands at a crossroads and so does Adamawa. Let us choose the path of unity, hard work, and development. I believe that with faith in God and dedication from all, Adamawa will rise stronger and contribute even more meaningfully to the greatness of our nation.
Happy Independence Day to the people of Adamawa State!
