When AI Says No: Is Generative AI Failing the Men It Should Help?

This Sunday almost ended without me posting anything again. But here I am, thinking about generative AI and what it really means for men—especially where technology is evolving faster than our understanding of its implications. AI was meant to assist, to simplify, to enhance human potential. But what happens when it decides not to?

A recent case caught my attention: an AI system refused to help a user with a task, citing ethical concerns. Read the update here: https://techpolyp.com/cursor-ai-coding-assistant-just-told-a-coder-to-do-it-himself-is-ai-turning-against-us/

Now, on the surface, that might sound responsible. But who decides what is "ethical" for AI? If it's programmed biases, are we really building tools to serve humanity, or are we letting AI dictate what kind of help we deserve? Should men, who often struggle with expressing their needs, now also fear being denied assistance by the very systems meant to support them?

Think about it. AI could be a force for good, helping men navigate careers, relationships, mental health, and even personal growth. Yet, if these systems become selective in their assistance, who ensures that they serve all people fairly? What if AI subtly reinforces societal biases, amplifying the very struggles it was meant to ease?

This isn’t about paranoia. It’s about responsibility. If AI is to be the great equalizer, then it must be designed to serve, not gatekeep. As we build and integrate these systems into daily life, we must ask: Is AI truly here to help men, or is it being shaped into another filter through which their challenges are judged before being addressed?

“…for all that is great, praise-worthy, and high-rank was primarily made to be earned through difficulties, examinations, tears, and problems.”

While passing general comments on Pa. Tai Solarin’s May Your Road Be Rough, sometime in 2022, I wrote the above words, stated that success is not accomplished on a platter of gold. It comes through consecutive efforts and battles on the tumultuous waters of life.

This further reestablishes that a rough road and success are inseparable, as against our hope of attaining greater heights with scarcely limited or no trial.

Attached is the link to the article; you should have a nice time.

In 1964, January 1, specifically; the article that got many people wondering how crooked, insensitive, and raw the author could be was first published in the Nigerian Tribune by Dr. Tai Solarin (of…

With strong determination, unfettered consistency, patience, and, of course, prayers, we can reach the magnificent shores of our promised lands. Thus, whatever you do, let's do more this week, hoping it can and will only get better. Cheers!

Among what I’ve learned lately, two things that stand out are:

1. Once your oppressors are connected with the powers that be, your liberation is close to being a mirage.

2. Regardless of what you do, ensure you pray against having a breakthrough that will eventually end your life.

Selah!

Life is like a game of chess, where every move has consequences. But what happens when the game ends? Does the board stay the same, or does it reset itself?

In life, we play our own game of chess, moving our pieces across the board. But when death comes knocking, it's as if the board is cleared and the pieces scattered. The game ends, and we must accept that our time has come.

Mohbad’s board has been cleared, and his pieces, scattered ‘cause his time has come. A sad event that will, one day, happen to every living soul!

Checking through my Facebook Newsfeed earlier today, I saw the content below on the wall of Sir Adamu Tilde; hence, I find it worthy of being shared here as the same resonates with flimsy & unfounded criticism humans are fond of making, particularly, in reaction to some political movements & social-cultural events. This act has rented the air so much that one will want to doubt if truly those concerned have any fair sense of judgement at all or perhaps, they just want to hold a dissenting opinion or criticize for the sake of being noticed.

Well, you may see the content below as the writer passes some messages about those concerned:

“There's an awkward sense of importance to being a dissenter, an opposing voice, all the time. Dissension as an art has been elevated to unenviable heights, so much so that dissenters wallow in the pool of a false sense of sophistry and intelligence. But there's nothing spectacular about having a dissenting voice, even when it's unnecessary. Criticizing for criticism's sake isn't a virtue. Criticize to get things done in a better way. Criticize where your silence amounts to complacency. Criticize if your criticisms would birth a new and better way of doing things. Any criticism short of educating the populace about their rights, about how to go on living a better and more meaningful life, and about why they should get their acts right is an ego-massaging adventure to appear informed, enlightened, and educated. Behind the veiled face is a mind frustrated by shattered dreams and unrealized ambitions.”

Life is like a garden. Sometimes you'll plant a seed, and it will bloom, while other times, you'll end up with a w**d. You can't control the weather or the insects, but you can cultivate the soil and nurture the plants. It takes time, patience, and effort, but the results are worth it. Your garden will be unique, full of colour and life, and you'll be satisfied knowing you created it.

Have a great day. 😊
