“You Should Know Better!”

There was something I learned very early as a pastor’s child:

Your mistakes don’t always belong to you alone. Sometimes, people use them to judge your father’s ministry.

If I made a mistake, it wasn’t just:

“Favour made a mistake.”

It could quickly become:

“Is this how a pastor’s child behaves?” 😔

Imagine growing up feeling like people are always watching you.

The way you talk.

The way you dress.

The way you react.

The friends you keep.

Even the mistakes you make.

Sometimes, I wished people would simply see ME—a child who was still learning, growing, and figuring life out.

I eventually realized something:

Being a pastor’s child is a privilege, but it can also come with expectations that feel very heavy.

And no… we are not perfect.

We are children too. ❤️

🌱 Growing Up as a Pastor’s Child — Day 1
“But You’re a Pastor’s Child!”
I remember making a little mistake one day, and someone looked at me and said, “But you’re a pastor’s child. You’re not supposed to behave like this.”
I smiled, but deep down, those words hurt.
Sometimes people forget that a pastor’s child is still just a child.

We make mistakes.
We get angry.
We cry.
We have bad days.
We don't always know what to say.

Growing up as a pastor’s child taught me that people sometimes expect you to be perfect simply because your father serves God.
But I eventually learned something important:
Being a pastor’s child doesn't mean being perfect. It means learning to grow, just like everyone else.
And perhaps the most beautiful part is learning to know God for yourself, not simply because your father is a pastor. ❤️

OBEDIENCE: THE KEY THAT UNLOCKS GOD’S POWER
📖 Luke 5:1–10
In Luke chapter 5, the Bible tells us about Peter and other fishermen who had worked all night and caught nothing.
They were tired.
They were discouraged.
They had done everything they knew how to do and still failed.
At that moment, Jesus came and asked Peter to launch his boat out a little. After teaching, Jesus gave an instruction that did not make sense naturally:
👉 “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
Peter was a professional fisherman. He knew the right time to fish, and that time had already passed. Humanly speaking, the instruction did not add up. But Peter said something that changed his story forever:
👉 “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless, at Your word, I will let down the net.”
This is obedience.
Peter did not argue.
He did not delay.
He did not adjust God’s instruction to fit his comfort.
He obeyed.
The moment Peter obeyed, the Bible says they caught such a great number of fish that their nets began to break, and their boats were almost sinking.
This teaches us a powerful truth:
God does not move where there is disobedience.
God does not reveal His power where instructions are ignored.
God proves Himself when we obey—even when it doesn’t make sense, even when we are tired, even when we have failed before.
Peter’s obedience brought:
✔️ Supernatural provision
✔️ Divine overflow
✔️ A life-changing encounter with Jesus
What effort could not do, obedience did in one moment.
Today, God is still speaking. He is still giving instructions.
The question is not whether God is powerful the question is whether we are obedient.
Your miracle may be waiting on your obedience.
Your breakthrough may be tied to one instruction you are avoiding.
Obey God…
And watch Him turn empty nets into overflowing blessings 🙏🏽✨

Is having a teachable spirit meant for wives only, or for husbands too?
‎Having a teachable spirit is not a wife-only responsibility it is a Christ-like trait required of both husband and wife. The Bible never presents humility, correction, or growth as something only women should practice.
‎Before any instruction to wives or husbands, Scripture says:
‎“Submit yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” (Ephesians 5:21)
‎This shows that God’s design for marriage is mutual humility.
‎A teachable husband listens, not just instructs. He accepts correction without anger or pride, and grows in love, leadership, and wisdom.
‎A teachable wife remains open to learning and growth, responds with humility rather than fear, and helps nurture peace and unity in the home.
‎Teachable spirits build healthy marriages, not power struggles. When only one person is teachable, the marriage becomes heavy. When both are teachable, the marriage becomes a place of growth.
‎The truth is simple and balanced:
‎Teachability is a fruit of maturity, not submission alone.
‎God calls both husband and wife to learn, grow, and be corrected in love. 🤍

When you feel tired, discouraged, or tempted to give up, hear this clearly: God sees you, and He is not finished with you. What looks like weariness to you is not weakness to God it is a sign that you are close to a breakthrough.
The Lord says in His Word, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). Your perseverance is activating a harvest. Even when you see nothing, heaven is responding to your obedience.
God is not distant from your pain. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). In this season of weakness, God is stepping in with supernatural strength. You are allowed to rest, but you are not permitted to quit, because what God started in you must be completed.
Hear this and receive it:
Delay is not denial it is divine timing.
Pain is not proof of failure it is proof of process.
Waiting does not mean God has forgotten you it means He is preparing you.
“Those who hope in the Lord shall renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31). Right now, God is renewing you quietly, shaping you patiently, and carrying you lovingly even when you don’t feel it.
So rise in faith. Do not give up. Do not let go. Pray again. Trust again. God is still writing your story, and this chapter will end in victory. 🙏✨
