For my new project The Big Lebowksi in Paris: a develish quick Hot Club Song-challenge.

Who is hip to submit adlibs and a 8 or 16 measure of solo for the solo-track on guitar, violin or...whatever instrument? As long as it in Django Style. I have played in a short solo, it is acceptable... but it could be much better/ No pay, no fame, little exposure but it could be a musical kick (because it is very fast).

Send me private message if you are interested and want to accept the track with the solotrack 'empty'. Or if you have more questions. Or want the bloody chords. Or suggestions. Whatever, man!

I would like to finish and publish and market this song well before the end of March. Because, like... it is about the rains of March.

Here I present my newest song: Tango Embetânt. My first in French, very apt for the new theme I’ve chosen: The Big Lebowski in Paris. Songs in French or with a French twist, sung as if the Dude has taken up lodgements in Paris, France (and not Paris, Texas).

Hello!

This is a new song - for the first time in French! - I wrote when I was in Paris and studied French for a month. When the good people of the school asked me my goal I jokingly said: ‘I want to write a song in French - a chanson!’ Then the people of the language school said ‘Well, if you do, will you perform it for us, the teachers and the other students?’

Oh s**t!

Well, noblesse oblige and I wrote a song… performed it for the teachers and students present…and now I’ve had the time and ideas to make a good demo of it. It is called Tango
Embêtant (which means ‘Annoying Tango’). Which in itself is already a wordplay, because the song is actually a Bossanova. But one of the teachers remarked it is also wordplay with a reinforced building, which you could also call in French ‘embêtant’.

Anyway. I’ve used in this song most of the phrases and grammar we used in class, especially the not so usual one (you’ll see!) and grammar-constructions that are a bit advanced. That is also why I made this a lyrical video (if that is the correct expression), so the teachers could perhaps use it for one of their lessons.

The message of the song (if you’re not good at French) is about how people that are annoyed by unimportant things, usually are unhappy about the important things…which they seldom talk about. Or sing…so you grumble about your phone, while you would prefer crying about the love you can’t get…

C'est une nouvelle chanson - pour la première fois en français ! - J'ai écrit quand j'étais à Paris et j'ai étudié le français pendant un mois. Quand les braves gens de l'école m'ont demandé quel était mon objectif, j'ai dit en plaisantant : "Je veux écrire une chanson en français - une chanson !" Puis les gens de l'école de langue ont dit : "Eh bien, si tu le fais, vas-tu nous l'interpréter , les professeurs et les autres élèves?'

Zut!

Eh bien, noblesse oblige, j'ai écrit une chanson… Je l'ai interprétée pour les professeurs et les élèves présents… et maintenant j'ai eu le temps et les idées pour en faire une bonne démo. Ça s'appelle Tango Embêtant (qui signifie « Tango ennuyeux »). Ce qui en soi est déjà un jeu de mots, car la chanson est en fait une Bossanova. Mais l'un des professeurs a fait remarquer que c'est aussi un jeu de mots avec un bâtiment renforcé, qu'on pourrait aussi appeler en français "embêtant".

Le message de la chanson (si vous n'êtes pas bon en français) est que les gens qui sont ennuyés par des choses sans importance, sont généralement mécontents des choses importantes... dont ils parlent rarement. Ou chanter… alors tu te plains de ton téléphone, alors que tu préférerais pleurer sur l'amour que tu ne peux pas avoir…

Friends, fans and followers,

Here, finally one might say, a new song. I’ve decided to take a new direction with my music: record and post as many songs possible as a live performance. After a long though process, I found out that making full fledged demos and then produce complete videoclips with effects like green screen, montages and so forth, divert my attention from what I should be doing: writing music, learning to perform it and bring it out to the world. So live videos. Imperfect, perhaps, with little mistakes here and there. But straight from the heart and hopefully straight in to your hearts.

The song is called ‘Listen’, and I’m quite proud I could play and record this on our incredible Steinway Grand, that once belonged to Dutch great Wim Sonneveld. (Really!)
