Out now! Two rare recordings from the archives of legendary The RAH Band producer Richard Hewson.

Rising Star (Cosmix) began life in 1984 as a vocal single performed by Debbie Sharp. Hewson reworked the original track into a percussive cosmic disco interpretation, aptly titled the “Cosmix”, experimenting with his newly acquired Bel Delay effects unit, which became central to his studio explorations at the time.

Deep Song dates back even further, to the late-70s Richard Hewson Orchestra period - the creative blueprint that would later evolve into Hewson’s cult studio project, The RAH Band. Deep Song was originally released as a B-side under a mysterious alias in 1979.

Bringing the Brazilian heat to already tropical temperatures in Amsterdam - Palo Santo Discos and Helena Camarero takeover Dick&Dick at Skatecafe with us this Saturday alongside our Store Crew!

During our last edition MPB rhythms (courtesy of DJ Paulão) filled the room and it was a match made in heaven so we had to bring it back a second time around and this time with weather to match. Palo Santo Discos holds down a must-listen NTS residency broadcasting from his Amsterdam home - dedicated to highlighting long-lost gems from across the globe.

He’s joined by Helena Camarero who was born with rhythm and inspired by a musically rooted family…

As a DJ she blends Brazilian music, jazz, disco, and funk, with a carefully curated mix of deep cuts!

Your favourite record pushers from the store look after 1900 and Skatecafe - we’ll leave that as a surprise 😉

Final regular tickets in the usual place but don’t wait too long as they’re going quick as things heat up before Saturday!

Up for pre-order now- Dream 2 Science’s 1990 release ‘My Love Turns To Liquid’ reissued on 12” with three mixes from the original and the ‘Cozmic Remixes’. The Cozmic Remix instrumental is pressed on vinyl for the first time.

Ben “Cozmo D” Cenac who’s the mind behind Dream 2 Science (as well as Newcleus and Sha-Lor) wrote the track which was “designed to flow and feature Yvette’s (Lady E’s) vocal stylings. [He] wanted something smooth, laid back, deep and hella sexy!”. It came out on Cenac’s own Power Move Records, distributed by Fore Records which was owned by Gregg Fore - he then encouraged Cenac to produce a full EP which turned into the now iconic Dream 2 Science EP (reissued on Rush Hour in 2012).

Just over two weeks until we return to Skatecafe for an all-night 3 room takeover and here’s some snapshots of how it went down last time around...

It’s always a unique and exciting chance to curate three rooms of music and weave through the many corners of sound that our store represents!

From darker, deeper records in the 1900 through to more organic feels in Dick&Dick and then a mixed bag in the main room - it’s always an occasion our crew look forward to packing their record bags for.

Early tickets have sold out and we are into regular tickets now - last time these went quickly and this edition is expected to be the same so don’t hesistate to check the usual place!

Up for pre-order now - Precious Bloom producer Dea returns on the Rush Hour Store Jams imprint with a fresh four tracker!

The idea for Fairlight began shortly after Aradea Barandana purchased a Yamaha DX1 synthesizer. While exploring its presets, one sound in particular—called Fairlight sparked the initial concept for the EP.

Rather than following the traditional structure of dance music where drum machines and synthesizers lock into repetitive synchronized patterns the EP approaches composition more like a narrative.

The result is a small collection of tracks that sit between nostalgia and experimentation where vintage synthesizers meet a compositional approach that values movement, surprise, and a sense of musical journey.
