Onimusha: Way of the Sword 🎮 — Cat Review 🐾
This one gets the CAT APPROVED paw stamp. 😼⚔️
The biggest reason my paws refused to put the controller down — the combat is superb. It’s fast, brutal, and incredibly satisfying, with a huge variety of animations that keeps every fight entertaining. There’s a great selection of enemies and some seriously cool bosses. A perfect playground for a cat with a sword and questionable anger management. 🐈⚔️
The actors are good and make these characters genuinely mesmerizing to watch. I actually cared about them instead of just waiting for the next thing I could slice into pieces. 😹 The story was intriguing and, for me, had a cool twist that I really enjoyed.
Unfortunately, not everything deserves a bowl of premium tuna. 🐟
The level design is one of the weakest parts. Exploration can feel repetitive, with too much reuse of mini-bosses and even some boss encounters. After meeting the same angry creature again, my whiskers started asking questions…
Visually, it looks good, but the graphics definitely aren’t peak Capcom. I’ve seen much more impressive visuals in their previous games, so I expected more here. The art direction has its moments, but technically, it rarely made this cat forget about dinner.
🐾 Final Verdict: CAT APPROVED 😼⚔️
Onimusha stumbles with repetitive level design, reused encounters, and visuals that don’t reach Capcom’s best, but what matters most is done incredibly well. The superb combat stayed satisfying until the end, while the story, memorable characters, and strong performances gave me a reason to care about more than sharpening my claws.
The overall experience easily outweighs its flaws. A very enjoyable return for Onimusha and absolutely worth sinking your claws into.
