Today, 8 years ago, on August 11, 2018, I recorded the Muzikxpress interview with Maxi Jazz.

I sat down with Maxi and asked him to share the story behind the Faithless hit single “God Is A DJ.” I will be forever grateful that Maxi said “yes” when I asked him for this interview.

Keep in mind that, at the time, my Muzikxpress YouTube channel didn’t even have 1000 subscribers. So it was incredibly kind of him to give me this opportunity and take the time to sit down with me, a small YouTube channel.

As a Faithless fan from the very beginning, this is a day I will never, ever forget. It was an incredible experience to hear how this great dance classic came to be, told by the man himself.

I think about 95% of the interviews I've done with artists and producers are about hit singles or big classics from the past. But for this interview, I made an exception!

"Liebe" by Cosmic Baby (a project by Harald Blüchel) was never released as a separate single. It was "just" an album track from Cosmic Baby's beautiful debut album, "Stellar Supreme".

Of course, years later, Ingo Kunzi covered "Liebe" and his version became a very successful release under his Ayla alias.

I've always loved the original Cosmic Baby version, so during my stay in Berlin in May of this year, I asked Harald if he could share the story behind "Liebe" and tell me how the track came to be.

RIP William Orbit ....

Over the years, I had the pleasure of being in touch with William a few times via email, mainly for work-related matters during the time I worked for Dance Therapy, Ferry Corsten's management company.

At one point, I decided to take a chance and asked William if I could send him a CD so he could sign the cover for me. I immediately received a reply saying, "Yes, of course, no problem!"
William kindly signed the cover of his legendary "Pieces In A Modern Style" album for me.

It actually took about a year before I received it back, as he was often travelling and busy with various production projects. But when the signed album finally arrived, it came with a lovely handwritten note in which he apologized for taking so long and asked if I would be in London that October.

Unfortunately, I wasn't going to be there, but I saw it as an opportunity to ask if he might be interested in doing an interview for my Muzikxpress YouTube channel about one of the tracks he wrote and produced for Madonna; "Beautiful Stranger".

He sent me a very kind reply, explaining that he wasn't doing any interviews until his new album was released, and that he wanted to save his Madonna stories for a book he hoped to write someday in the future....

Sadly, it wasn't meant to be... 😢

We never got the chance to meet in person, but I will always treasure that signed CD and his handwritten note.
And, of course, we will never forget his incredible productions and compositions, and the wonderful music he gave us over the years.

Rest in peace, William. Thank you for all the beautiful music.... ❤️
