“The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7
In a world that often judges by appearances, achievements, and status, it’s comforting to know that God looks deeper. He isn’t impressed by outward success or how well we fit into society’s standards. Instead, He searches the heart—our motives, our faith, and our love for Him.
When Samuel was sent to anoint the next king of Israel, he assumed that one of Jesse’s strong and impressive sons would be chosen. But God had other plans. He chose David, a shepherd boy who didn’t stand out to human eyes but had a heart fully devoted to Him.
This reminds us that what matters most is not how others see us but how God sees us. He values a heart that seeks Him, trusts Him, and loves others sincerely.
