I’m Ian Storm, founder of STORM Music Group — but my journey started long before the first beat dropped. I came from the light to bring light. While other kids played games I didn’t understand, I was building, creating, and dreaming. I spent hours in my own world. Every morning, I’d press play on Music Was My First Love by John Miles. That song didn’t just inspire me it progr
ammed me. The 90s changed everything. I was born in Belgium, my grandma was dutch. It was in Belgium where the foundations of trance were first laid in dark clubs and smoky warehouses, where pulsing basslines echoed off concrete walls and a new sound was born. A sound that wasn’t just heard but felt. It was there, in the heart of Europe, that emotion found rhythm, and energy found form. The birthplace of trance was not a trend it was a frequency. And it called to me. Dream dance and trance swept me away. The energy, the way it could lift your soul, sync thousands of strangers, and open emotional doors you didn’t know existed I felt it deeply. And I knew: this is what I have to bring to the world. But as with many that try to follow their hart, my sensitive part was not appreciated at that time. I was bullied from time to time and was told not to be myself. Even my greatest passion, music, was dismissed at home. My heart retreated into silence. Hiding my feelings my was my only escape at that time. I learned to survive and defend myself and to create freedom and independency for myself. I became an engineer, I moved to Holland, built companies, I created financial freedom, not for wealth, but for the freedom to follow my true calling. Yet the mask I wore to survive the hard, defensive version of me, stayed on for years. Only by meeting the right people, those who saw and amplified my light, did I learn to drop the mask, set boundaries, and live in my real frequency. All that resistance? It made me stronger. Because you can’t bring light without learning to protect it and how to structure things in the material world. And so, I built STORM combining everything I learned as a Dutch entrepreneur with the emotional depth and nostalgic energy I felt in the early Belgian trance scene. The vision was clear: to create a label that merges structure with soul, and builds something lasting from pure feeling and energy. STORM just as a label, but as an energy. Because for me, success was never the point. The point was, and always will be: energy. That’s my gift knowing when a track carries true feeling, and when it doesn’t. Some call me a trance guy. But here’s the truth:
I’m a feeling guy. I believe that emotional, soul-shifting energy doesn’t belong to one genre. It can live in trance, house, tech house, melodic techno, breaks anything. People are too eager to put things into boxes. What matters is intention, timing, and frequency. That’s why I built STORM Music to be a home for that energy, no matter its form. All STORM sub-labels have one thing in common:
The right track, at the right time, that hits the soul just right. When music hits the right frequency at the right moment something inside you shifts. You let go. You rise up. You escape. Escape Reality Back to Infinity. STORM playlists and channels deliver you the right tunes at the right moment. STORM DJs don’t just perform, they read the crowd and guide them on an energetic journey. STORM parties? They’re more than events, they’re experiences. Moments when the STORM hits, and the energy takes over. Because of everything I’ve lived through, the resistance, the loneliness, the fight for freedom, I now want to show others what’s possible. I want to teach people to believe in their own potential. To never accept limits set by others. To never believe the lie that “it can’t be done.” We are creators, we can all bring the light to humanity trought the power and energy of music. I was inspired by people who broke boundaries and redefined what was possible: Madonna, David Guetta, Richard Branson and the countless creators who shaped the soundtrack of my life. They showed me that you don’t have to fit in to lead. That creation is the ultimate rebellion. And now, through STORM, I aim to pass that energy on.
