A total of 108 people were detained this week after police inspections found they were living in Malta illegally.

The inspections were carried out by the Immigration Police and the Community Police in several localities, including Marsa and Ħamrun.

According to police, those detained were from a number of different countries, including European, Asian and African nations.

Officers from the Detention Services Agency also assisted police during the routine inspections.

The individuals are expected to undergo the necessary procedures in line with Malta's immigration laws.

DEPORTATION OF UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS IN NETHERLANDS HAS EFFECT THE DUTCH SOCIETY DAILY LIFE?

In the Netherlands, the number of illegalised migrants is estimated between 70,000 and 150,000. Around 10,000 people are repatriated each year, either via ‘voluntary return’ programmes or by means of forceful removal.

The Dutch state has put together an extensive deportation infrastructure that includes four detention centres, 44 reception locations with limited freedom of movement, a special deportation unit and a substantial allocation of police forces.

While undocumented residents cannot legally work, many are active in the informal economy, providing low-cost labor in sectors like hospitality, agriculture, domestic work, and construction. Aggressive deportation efforts or crackdowns often tighten the available labor pool in these niches, which operators state can lead to rising wage costs and operational friction in these specific, unregulated industries.

In the real reality of live's in the Netherlands, we know that many Dutch families have improved their daily lives because of the help of undocumented people. Many Dutch families from the private sector and even from the government have undocumented cleaners in their homes. There are undocumented people also who take care of their children when they go to a party or meeting.

According to Fiona (not real name) from Philippines,many Dutch families pay 15-25 euros in exchange for the services of undocumented people.It is low compaire to minimum wage.But for the undocumented it is normal because they are not paying taxes. Many Dutch families trust and consider an undocumented person who works for them as a friend or family.

Other side ,many undocumented people hold the keys of the houses of their client Dutch families. Why is it necessary to consider or treat them as criminals if they do not commit any crime, but rather they help develop the economy even though they do not pay direct taxes.

But in other way,there are many ways they contribute to the profit of some businesses in the country. So when the undocumented people disappear, there will be cause some changes in the daily lives of many Dutch families.

The Supreme Court orders compensation of 2.5 million euros for a migrant bricklayer who spent 18 years in prison despite being innocent.
After spending nearly 18 years in prison for two r**e charges he did not commit, a bricklayer of Moroccan origin will be compensated with 2.5 million euros.

The Supreme Court has recognized the right of a bricklayer of Moroccan origin to receive compensation of 2.5 million euros after spending nearly 18 years in prison for two r**e offenses from which he was finally acquitted after his innocence was proven.

The Administrative Court has declared that there was a judicial error that generated patrimonial liability of the State.

The ruling concludes that the court that convicted him ignored a biological expert report that was already part of the proceedings and was crucial to the case.

The report, prepared by the Scientific Police, confirmed that the genetic profile of the accused did not match the semen remains found on the victim's clothing , evidence incompatible with his authorship.

According to the Supreme Court, the omission of this evidence constituted an "unequivocal and qualified" error, which caused the man to remain deprived of his liberty for almost two decades due to a conviction that was later overturned when his innocence was proven.

The high court emphasizes that this is a violation of the most serious nature of the fundamental right to personal freedom.

The resolution overturns the previous decision of the Ministry of Justice and the National Court, which had refused to compensate the affected party.

Furthermore, it awards €2.5 million in compensation for moral damages, loss of opportunity, and financial losses resulting from one of the longest wrongful imprisonments recognized by the Spanish courts. The plaintiff had initially claimed €3.64 million.

The Supreme Court clarifies that an acquittal after an appeal for review does not automatically generate a right to compensation, but it does when the sentence itself clearly shows a serious judicial error , as happened in this case when the assessment of an essential piece of evidence already incorporated into the process was omitted.
