When you live in an area unreached by the gospel, the truth of Jesus can be difficult to come by. But for one man in Karakalpakstan, a single encounter changed the course of his life:
Tursyn* was homeless, jobless and penniless when a member of our team approached him at the bazaar. His circumstances had driven him to despair and alcoholism gripped his daily life. But, says our team member, “I decided to share about Jesus with him. I told him about how God loves him, and that God has a plan for his life.” Tursyn wept and accepted Christ as his Savior. He was given a TWR radio and shown where he could listen to our programs: “He was very happy to have that receiver and that he can listen to the Word of God in his own language.”
From then on, the two men began meeting once a week, and the difference in Tursyn was remarkable. He stopped drinking alcohol and began to share the gospel with those around him. “Now,” says our team member, “his life is changing, he found work and trying to make his life better.”
