Wassenaar Police have released photos of two bicycles they recovered after a pursuit and arrest. The bicycles are believed to be stolen and the owners are unknown.

One of the bicycles is a men's Gazelle electric bike, and the other is a women's Crown electric bike.

Police have reported that the bikes were recovered from Jaagpad, an area near Adelbert College, the suspects were coming from the area of Van Duivenvoordelaan, so the bikes may be from a different area of Wassenaar.

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the Beursvloer Wassenaar will take place at Van der Valk Den Haag – Wassenaar : the moment when social organizations and entrepreneurs find each other – not with money, but with commitment, materials and knowledge. One of the participants of the previous edition was Berry van der Holst, co-owner of G. vd Holst and Zn. His match with Stichting Gehandicapten Wassenaar (SGW) grew into a project with great impact.

Berry came into contact with the Beursvloer Wassenaar through his network and is very enthusiastic about the concept. The principle is simple: entrepreneurs offer what they can spare – whether that is time, material, expertise or manpower – and social organizations come up with a creative quid pro quo. Not money, but impact and connection.

His own match with SSH started with the request: help with the realization of a wheelchair-friendly toilet at the playground on the Dr. Mansveldkade. But the idea soon took off. What started as a practical facility grew into an ambitious plan to make the entire playground accessible to children with disabilities. The enthusiasm of all those involved was contagious, and the project even received attention from regional television.

"As a born and bred Wassenaarder, I think it is important to give something back to the village," says Berry. "Some organizations simply cannot continue to exist without the help of entrepreneurs. We often have resources or knowledge that they lack. If we can share that, we can make a difference together."

Beursvloer Wassenaar offered him the opportunity not only to do something valuable, but also to meet other people. "You get to know social organizations, but also fellow entrepreneurs. It is networking with depth. Beautiful ideas and collaborations arise. It's your appreciation to society."

For the upcoming edition, Berry hopes that even more entrepreneurs will sign up. "You don't have to make a grand gesture to mean a lot. Sometimes a small gesture is the beginning of something big. And if we work together, we can really create something for Wassenaar."

Police in Wassenaar remind residents of increased burglary risks

The summer holidays give families an opportunity to go on vacation and have a much needed rest. However, they also offer criminals an opportunity to burglarize empty homes. Wassenaar Police have issued suggestions for residents to follow to help protect their home from burglars. One of the best strategies residents can utilize is simply asking a trusted neighbor to keep an eye out on their home. This makes sure there is someone who can bring in mail and newspapers, open and close curtains, and can alert police immediately if anything seems unusual. Lamps can also be connected to timers to turn on and off at random times to simulate someone being home.

Prior to leaving, residents should make sure their windows and doors are all properly locked, and should avoid leaving any keys outside. Burglars are aware of common "clever" hiding places and hide-a-key devices.

Police also warn residents not to post about holiday plans online and to wait and share holiday photos until after the vacation is over. Criminals are online as well and often target homes where they know residents will not return for several days.
Residents who are home are asked to keep an eye out in the neighborhood for anything out of the ordinary. Police ask that any suspicious situation be reported immediately on the emergency line 112.

The popular de Wassenaarse Wijnloop returns this September.

Although it doesn't arrive until September, it is advised to buy your ticket now for this popular annual event held in the heart of Wassenaar. For €18.95+€1.00 fee, residents purchase a wine glass that allows them to taste wine in every participating shop throughout Wassenaar. The event encourages participants to socialize with one another as they discover the shops in the village. You also get to keep your special glass at the end of the night!

The Wassenaar Wijnloop will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 14h-17h. Glasses can be purchased online and then picked up at one of the participating stores beginning a week before the event. This event often sells out and when tickets are gone, they're gone.

Due to the construction in the village’s shopping center, the Saturday Puur Natuur Markt will again be held in the Kloosterland parking area on Saturday, July 26th. The international award-winning theater group, Illyria, will be returning to Wassenaar this September 4-5, 2025, performing the Shakespeare comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor. The outdoor play is a beloved annual event that takes place on the lawn of the historic Raadhuis de Paauw Wassenaar, with each year bringing a new Shakespeare play. The performance is in English, using the First Folio, a collection of Shakespeare's works that was published in 1623.

Tickets for the show are €25 for students and €30 for adults, and the performance is suitable for all ages. The play begins at 19.30 hrs and runs for just over 2 hours. However, the grounds open earlier, and families often bring picnic dinners to enjoy prior to the start of the show.

On Tuesday evening, October 7, 2025, from 18:00 to 21:00, it is time again for the Beursvloer Wassenaar: the networking event where local entrepreneurs and social organizations meet and make matches. This year, Van der Valk The Hague – Wassenaar is the host location for this vibrant evening full of collaboration and social impact.

What is the Beursvloer?
There are no products or services for sale on the Exhibition Floor. Instead, supply and demand of help, knowledge, time or resources are brought together. Without money, but with impact!
