Xymphonia, elke zondag tussen 20 en 22 uur op DeltaFM (Twenterand) en Radio350 (Rijssen / Holten)

Een wekelijks programma dat aandacht schenkt aan progressieve, melodieuze en symfonische rock in al zijn uitingsvormen. We zoeken daarbij bewust ook de grenzen op van dit muzikale genre zonder overigens de klassiekers volledig uit het oog te verliezen // A weekly radioshow that is focused on progressive, melodic and symphonic rock in all its glory. We try to give a wide perspective on music both from the past and the present with the occasional excursions into the territory of progressive pop, jazzrock, progressive metal and folk / singer-songwriter.

In this episode, we present you the latest album by Sleeping Pulse and re-releases by Jethro Tull, Steve Hogarth (AKA h), and Gentle Giant. And of course there's more to be heard of our Album of the Month August: "A Tale" by Onségen Ensemble! We feature two projects that only made one album: La Dottrina Degli Opposti and Victor and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the debut album by Shadowfax. We never featured the debut album by Tritop but we'll make up for that in this episode. Apart from that there's more to be heard of the latest Deep Purple album and the massive Solution box that was released last year. On Sunday evening, August 16, 2026, Xymphonia is on the air again on Delta FM and Radio 350 between 20:00 h and 22:00 h CET. In this episode, we present you the latest album by Circuline (new for us but in fact already two years old) and a re-release by Another Roadside Attraction. We also already bring you a track off the upcoming new The Pineapple Thief album. Another band that released a preview to their upcoming album last Friday is The Flower Kings. We don't air that tonight, but we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the second real TFK album "Retropolis". And of course there's more to be heard of our Album of the Month August: "A Tale" by Onségen Ensemble! Then there's a King Crimson cover by Portugese band Heylel and yet another track off the latest For All We Know album. Alcest and (a bit later on) Scott Kinsey can be seen live on stages in The Netherlands: reason for us to play some music by them.

We close off with two tracks (by Jacco Gardner and Kataya respectively) that refer to eclipses, of course because we had one last Wednesday. On Sunday evening, August 9, 2026, Xymphonia is on the air again on Delta FM and Radio 350 between 20:00 h and 22:00 h CET. In this episode, we present you a new album by Lalu (with among others superdrummer Simon Phillips!). We also once again pay attention to recently released albums by Ambient Den and Mecano Unlimited. And of course there's more to be heard of our Album of the Month August: "A Tale" by Onségen Ensemble! Last week Earth & Fire singer Jerney Kaagman passed away. We honour her with two songs from her old band. Wim van Putten was a radio host who introduced a lot of Dutch listeners to progressive rock back in the eighties and early nineties. He also sadly passed away recently and we honour him with music we associate him with by Eddie Jobson and Mike Rutherford. In our 'debut' item we feature Joe Walsh and Savatage is featured because of a German concert in the upcoming week. And finally we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the debut albums by Japanese prog bands Ain Soph and Pageant. On Sunday evening, August 2, 2026, Xymphonia is on the air again on Delta FM and Radio 350 between 20:00 h and 22:00 h CET. In this episode, we present you a new album by Jane Getter Premonition and archive releases by Quidam and Allan Holdwoorth. We also once again pay attention to recently released albums by BRØNS and Stefano Panunzi. And of course a new month implies a brand new Album of the Month. For August we have chose for "A Tale" by Onségen Ensemble! Because of upcoming live concerts by Opeth and, next year, by Jansen & Barbieri we also feature music by these two acts. There's a monumental track by Finisterre Project (well, in fact from the first Höstonaten album). Yesterday, it was exactly 50 years ago that Niki Lauda crashed heavily on the Nurburgring in Germany. A film was made about that racing season, Rush. We play a piece of Hans Zimmer's soundtrack and also a song about racing by Big Big Train. We close off with an Italoprog classic from Corte Dei Miracoli. In this episode, we present you new albums by Paper Crown, JunXion, Snowy White And The White Flames, Evergrey, and T.A.L.L.. Last week Jess Holland announced that she is leaving Solstice and the end of the year. Reason for us to air yet another track that features her wonderful vocals. Don't miss her on the last concerts she's going to do with the band! And tonight the very last season of the famous Dutch TV series Zomergasten starts. In this episode, we present you new albums by Goose [US], Molesome, Polis, and Long Distance Calling. We also present a live document by Steve Hogarth with RanestRane and the choir Flowing Chords from 2024 that was re-released rather quickly. Bonnie Tyler passed away recently and although she was not a progressive rock artist, she worked closely with Lifesigns' John Young ánd she sang on Mike Oldfield's "Islands". We'll air the title track off that last mentioned album in remembrance of her. There's Dutch music to be heard by Wings Of Steel and I Spy and cross-over fusion by Kolbe-Illenberger-Dauner. In this episode, we present music from Deep Purple latest album "Splat" and a first taste of Asia's first new music since the passing of John Wetton, music that will be officially released on their new album "Indigo" in November of this year. We combine two tracks that share a connection, one from German band Argos and one from cult-band England.

And of course we feature music from our Album Of The Month July: "This Gemlike Flame" by Ian Neal!

We close the show with two epic tracks celebrating the symphonic jazz of Lyle Mays (Pat Metheny Group) and the jazzrock/folk-fusion of Swedish band Kaipa.

In this episode, we present you the new streaming EP by Morgendust and two new box sets by Marillion and Isotope respectively. There's also a feature about the most recent album by Crystal Palace, that we missed out when it was released back in 2022. Plus yet another track off the latest Steve Porcaro album that was released earlier this year. And of course a new month also brings us a fresh new Album of the Month. For July we chose "This Gemlike Flame" by Ian Neal! Nils Petter Molvær will be playing at the North Sea Jazz festival. Reason for us to air some music of his. 50 years ago Woodenhead was formed, so that's why this band is also featured in this week's episode. In this episode, we present you new or new-ish releases by Different Light, Aether, and Castanarc, plus a newly published live recording by Epica. There's also a re-release by legendary Dutch band Golden Earrings. And of course there's more to be heard from our Album of the Month. For June we chose "Eternal Mistake" by Karmamoi! Eric Johnson will be touring around Europe in July. Reason for us to air a track off is solo debut. Judie Tzuke also announced a concert, but that's just one concert, in London next year. That's why we'll air a song by her, with help from Nigel Kennedy. And then there are two bands that were never featured before in Xymphonia: Stratus Luna and Trapezoid. In this episode, we present you new or new-ish releases by Stefano Panunzi, Crimson Roots, Yes (an archive release) and Barclay James Harvest (a re-release). There's news about Steve Hogarth, which we illustrate with music by his short-lived post-Europeans project How We Live. And of course there's more to be heard of our Album of the Month May: "Out Of Step" by Esthesis. There's also music to be heard by Al Di Meola because he will be playing live in The Netherlands later this week. We have to wait a little bit longer for the first concerts by The Samurai Of Prog, nonetheless we will air more music of this band (or is it a project?). We also celebrate the 50th anniversary of an important album in the Styx discography. Apart from that there's music to be heard by Anima Mundi (what happened to them)..
