Today, we look back on the fifth Nicolaes Tulp Symposium that was held November 12th at Huis Vasari!
The nominees for the AMSj Research Award were Roos Frölke, Anne Jongkind, and Floris de Vries. Roos initiated the presentations with her research on the neglected tropical diseases Leptospirosis and Scrub Typhus in India. Her work included the development of an exploratory predictive model designed to facilitate timely diagnosis of these conditions. Anne Jongkind presented her study on the application of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in patients with limited health literacy, specifically within the domain of gynaecologic oncology. This population, characterized by challenges in accessing and comprehending health-related information, was found to encounter additional barriers in utilizing PROMs effectively. Lastly, Floris de Vries showcased his research, which demonstrated the utility of a complete blood count in prioritizing patients for kidney cancer screening. His study incorporated the development of a machine learning model to enhance screening efficiency. Among the three medical students, all of whom delivered exceptional presentations, it was Roos Frölke who was awarded the prize.
The event was an absolute delight, filled with insightful presentations and remarkable achievements. A round of applause also goes out to the other winners and nominees. Our gratitude goes to the organisation, jury, sponsors and everyone else involved for making it an unforgettable evening! ✨
