When Chris van Cleef and Mad Langenhof — one half of The Third Movement act Mad & Darkcontroller — join forces, you know it won’t be polite. Under their joint alias The Chaos Initiative, the duo channels raw sonic discontent into four slabs of hostile, distorted sort-of-crossbreed — with a distinctly Dark. Descent. edge.
Chaos out of Order is thrilling underground architecture, built from blastproof kicks, eerie samples, and bleak atmospheres. Each track feels like a malfunctioning system refusing to shut down — mechanical, aggressive, and utterly unrelenting. This is crossbreed dragged through the wasteland: stripped of polish, loaded with distortion, and engineered to unsettle.

Hidden Rooms – Lemon Juicer

Hidden Rooms peels back the rind and serves two slices of acid-soaked techno: This release is a wink and a punch — playful in presentation, but serious on the floor.

“Lemortia” kicks things off with a no-nonsense hard techno framework: raw, repetitive, and irresistibly driving, evoking the energy of a vintage warehouse set. Squelching 303s cut through the mix with precision, creating a gritty yet hypnotic momentum.

“Tenebricid” follows up on the same wavelength, shifting the mood slightly darker while adding weight to the low end with pronounced sawtooth signals and slithering, mutating acid lines.

Lemon Juicer distills the essence of classic acid and techno with an added fresh spin — timeless ingredients, shaken with intent and served with molecular heat.

Obscura Secta – Crux Aeternum

There is a darkness not cast by absence of light, but born from within—seeping, sentient, eternal.

With Crux Aeternum, Obscura Secta emerges from the shadow, unbound by reference. Across three movements, this 16-minute invocation treads the threshold between desolation and revelation: “Ex Solis Umbra” crawls forth in low-frequency pulses, the last warmth extinguished by an unseen eclipse. “Via Lucida” offers no clarity, only the agony of brief insight. And then, “Lux Occulta”: the hidden light, the buried truth. Here, the veil tears. The silence between tones becomes unbearable.

Crux Aeternum is less a release than a relic—a document of slow decay and holy dread.

Autist – Les Fleurs du Mal

French sound provocateur Autist delivers a daring exploration of the bleak, the beautiful, and the brutally honest. This release on Spirit of Progress captures Autist at his most uncompromising: “Chaotic Harmony” opens the EP with slow-burning, rhythmic noise mechanics – abrasive, obsessive, and physically demanding. It’s a confrontation of inner architecture, channeling themes of neurodiversity through sheer sonic repetition and tension. “You Lied to Me” then turns inward, a ghostly soundscape scarred by acidic pulses. Space carved out not for comfort, but for dissection. Finally, the title track “Les Fleurs du Mal” fuses both extremes: a grey zone where pain meets clarity, where acid corrodes and rhythmic echoes haunt the space in between

Needles In The Night – Soft Tissue

Out of the clinical haze steps a new name for Dark. Descent.: Needles In The Night, known as one half of industrial hardcore duo Gathering Storm (Prototypes Records). This marks Maarten Hamberg’s first major incision into solo territory—and it cuts deep.

“Soft Tissue” is a twisted ritual of broken structures, corroded sonics and ghostly residue. These four tracks, drawn from the distorted recollection of everyday experience, linger in the grey zone between rhythmic industrial and nonconformist electronics: Too erratic for most clubs, too physical for abstraction. The sound is visceral, raw, and toxic, like navigating a sterile operating room with failing lights and flickering machines. No clean lines, no easy resolution—just pressure, distortion, and the creeping onset of anaesthesia.
