🇵🇭 This is where our national hero, Dr. José Rizal, once lived — right here in Heidelberg, Germany.

📍 “Where the flowers of Heidelberg once whispered to a hero…”

In the quiet town of Heidelberg, Germany, I stood where a young Filipino once walked with books in one hand and revolution in the other.

Dr. José Rizal, our national hero, lived here in 1886 — not as a fighter, but as a student, learning to heal eyes so he could one day treat his own mother’s blindness.

It was here he wrote “A Las Flores de Heidelberg”, a poem about homesickness, hope, and his dream for a free Philippines. He wandered these same cobblestone streets, fluent in German after just a few months, sipping beer he didn’t like (true story!), and writing words that would wake a nation.

From this peaceful German village, a spark was lit that would reach the islands thousands of miles away.

🇩🇪➡️🇵🇭 Heidelberg wasn’t just a stop on his journey — it was the birthplace of a revolutionary vision.
