Long Beach 1982: Gilles Villeneuve in the Ferrari finished 3rd but was later disqualified for using a curious rear wing which was declared illegal. The car was fitted with an unusual configuration of two thin rear wings, each individually as wide as the regulations allowed, but placed side-by-side and staggered fore and aft, making it effectively a single double-wide wing. This was done mainly as a deliberate exploitation of rule loopholes in retaliation for Williams' "water-cooled brakes"(this will be highlighted in an future post) exploit at the previous race in Brazil, and to send a political message to the governing body, which was part of the FISA-FOCA war.

During the FP3 of the 2010 Bahrain GP, Robert kubica felt something strange in his F1 car between his legs. It was a phone forgotten by an engineer. F1 drivers have a seat fitted for them so they can drive and perform on a high level while being comfortable and protected at 300+ km/h (180 mph). If a driver is sitting wrong or uncomfortable, they can lose up to half a second per lap or even their legs can become numb.

The Williams FW15C is a car designed by Adrian newey in 1993. The drivers that season were Alain Prost and Damon hill. It won 10 races and was an championship winning car.
The car was so dominant that Prost and hill often qualified with a marge of 1,5 - 2 seconds from the other teams.
The FW15C is considered to be one of the most technologically sophisticated Formula One car of all time, incorporating anti-lock brakes, traction control and active suspension. The FIA banned al these electronic driver aids for the next season.

Hans Heyer, 1977 Fails to qualify for the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim driving a Penske for ATS. 🏎

However, Heyer was well known by the marshals who looked the other way on lap 1 when he pulled out of the pit lane and joined the race! The stewards didn't even realize that he had joined until the local crowd erupted after seeing him drive by. Hans retired from the race on lap 9 with a gearbox problem and then was disqualified, leaving him with a DNQ, a DNF, and a DSQ in one Grand Prix.

With nowadays technology this will never happen anymore, but wich of the current drivers would be able do to this?👇🏻

The Tyrrell P34 (Project 34), commonly known as the "six-wheeler", is the only six-wheeled F1 car that has raced and won an F1 race. It was designed by Derek Gardner. When other teams saw how good the tyrrell p34 was, they also began experimenting with six-wheeled cars. But the concept was banned for the 1978 season so the teams didn't develop it anymore.

Did you know that:
Until the 1980s, the F1 paddock could be a quiet place.

There were less journalists, cameras and fans. Mechanics used to work on cars uncovered and with no fear of a possible another team's spy. While they were not working, drivers could even take a nap without being disturbed. It is weird to think with nowadays motorhomes and all the fans, journalists and mechanics in the paddock. The driver who is sleeping on the picture is Nelson Piquet's

Did you know that the Brabham bt46 (fancar) the only 100% win ratio car is in formula 1?

It was used in only 1 race and they won the race (driven by Niki Lauda) Niki finished 34 second ahead of the number 2. The "fan car" concept was withdrawn by Brabham after one race even though the FIA had ruled it could be used for the remainder of that season. Gordon Murray, designer of the car, later said that the car was withdrawn by Brabham due to concerns from Bernie Ecclestone, the team owner. He tought that the other teams wouldn't like it because it was so much quicker. Ecclestone was concerned that the upset from other teams over the fan car could collapse FOCA

Michael Schumacher went crazy with his team after winning the 2003 championship. 🍾

He became the first ever 6 time champion of f1. He celebrated it with his brother Ralf and things went a little crazy. But after the party at 10 PM local time the paddock had been cleaned up and the track was quiet once again.
