in 1261, Michael VIII Palaiologos was crowned Byzantine Emperor. He ruled the Nicene Empire, retook Constantinople from the Latins after 57 years of exile, and reestablished the Byzantine Empire. His dynasty would rule until 1453.

in 955, Otto I of Germany defeated the invading Magyars at the Battle of Lechfeld. This marked the end of the Magyar incursions into Europe. Otto's success led him to be crowned Holy Roman Emperor 7 years later. Read all about it in MW II.4: https://bit.ly/3HOL0ju
