Download 2023 has officially unveiled its first lineup announcement for its first ever four-day event, which will take place June 8-11, 2023 in its legendary home at Donington Park as it celebrates the 20th anniversary of the festival.

For the first time in history in the UK, Metallica will headline two separate nights, playing a unique set with no song repeats on the Thursday and Saturday of the festival. Also headlining this year's event are Bring Me The Horizon, making their first ever Download headline appearance on the Friday night, and Slipknot, who will headline Sunday.

Other major names announced for Download 2023 are (in alphabetical order): Alexisonfire, Architects, The Distillers, Disturbed, Evanescence, Ghost, I Prevail, Parkway Drive, Pendulum, Placebo, Simple Plan, Ville Valo and Within Tempation.

While German metal heavyweights Rammstein were in Mexico City for a three-night run at Foro Sol earlier this month, guitarist Richard Kruspe took to the streets to perform one of the band's most popular songs.

Wearing his stage gear and armed with what looks like a ESP E-II RZK-I Burnt Richard Z Signature, the guitarist treated gathered fans to a stripped back version Du Hast. The song, taken from their 1997 album Sehnsucht, has enjoyed 371,810,000 streams on Spotify to date. We can't remember the last time a Rammstein song wasn't accompanied by a retina-searing spectacle.

Journey surprised fans at the second of their two arena shows in Honolulu last week by inviting local resident Kirk Hammett onstage to jam with them on a cover of Metallica classic Enter Sandman.

The band were in Hawaii to play a brace of shows at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena, in support of this year's Freedom album, and guitarist Neal Schon took the opportunity to invite fellow San Franciscan Hammett to play with them on October 6. Metallica's guitarist also sat in on the band's Infinity-era single Wheel In The Sky on the night.

"Had a wonderful couple days hanging out with Neal and the guys from Journey," Hammett wrote afterwards on Instagram. "Thanks so much guys for having me jam on Wheel In the Sky, super fun and hope to hang again soon! Much, much Aloha!!!!"

Journey guitarist Schon also posted on social media about the unexpected Cali-jam, alongside a photo of himself and Hammett onstage.

"Had a great time with Kirk Hammett of Metallica last night at 2nd Sold Out Journey show in Hawaii Neal blaisdell Center Honolulu," Schon tweeted. "I put together a jam today for Wheel w/ Enter Sandman."
