Here are a few new images of The King in Yellow, Binder’s Edition.
This is one of the most ambitious editions we have worked on so far, and a book that is difficult to fully capture in photographs. Still, these images offer a glimpse of the finished result.
The main volume was entirely hand-bound using traditional techniques, with a hand-sewn text block, rounded and backed spine, hand-marbled endpapers, raised bands, and gold-foiled spine labels. It is bound in black pull-up calf, with a hand-dyed yellow nappa spine, and printed on Mohawk Superfine 118 gsm archival paper.
A Tragedy in Two Acts is included as a separate hand-bound volume, with its own sewn structure, marble paper sides, and leather spine.
Both are housed in a custom hand-made clamshell box, built from heavy board and finished with bonded leather, cloth, suede-lined trays, and gold foil blocking on the front.
The edition was printed and bound by Loxley Bindings. Every part of the set, from the sewing to the box, was made by hand using archival materials chosen for durability and long-term preservation. It has been a real pleasure to see this edition come to life.
