I spent two nights at Glencruitten House near Oban and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels over the years, but this place offers something a bit different. It’s peaceful, surrounded by nature, and has enough going on that you don’t need to leave the grounds if you don’t want to.

The food was excellent. Proper fine dining with themed storytelling, yet without feeling too formal. Great ingredients, attentive service, and definitely worth taking your time over dinner.

The private sauna and hot tub at each cabin were incredible, especially after a day spent exploring the west coast. Sitting in the hot tub with a wee dram of single malt, looking out across the beautiful estate while alpacas and peacocks wandered around the grounds felt quite special.

I arrived here as a solo traveller at the start of my two-month journey across Scotland and found it incredibly easy to unwind. No crowds, no noise, no rush. Just a cosy place to relax, enjoy good food, and spend a few days in a stunning part of the country.

I’d happily stay again 🙏🏼😊

“UISGE” (pronounced OOSH-kye), from the Gaelic *uisge beatha* — “water of life” 🥃

World Whisky Day is a reminder that whisky was never meant to sit untouched on a shelf. It’s meant to be poured, passed around, and shared with good friends and better stories.

Slàinte Mhatn! 🥃

Happy World Whisky Day, everyone!

I spent a night beneath this centuries-old guardian tree, and it turned out to be my best night in Scotland so far. This spot on the banks of the River Orchy in Glen Orchy instantly became my favourite camping spot in the whole country. I started the day with a morning swim, a coffee, and simply watching the river flow.

The roof tent from has felt like incredible luxury for over a month now. I can’t believe I’ve already been in Scotland this long—and I still have another month of adventures ahead!

… and yeah—before you ask—I swim naked in rivers and lochs pretty much every day. Been doing it forever. There’s just nothing like that feeling of being totally in sync with nature—just you, the water, and everything around you. No layers, no fuss. Swimsuits kinda feel optional at this point 😎
