Did my tomatoes turn well even if they were dry and wrinkled on the outside? Yes! I was surprised that they were fresh and juicy inside, actually.

I guess I will try planting again next year. I will make it two. :)

Before and after pics: My one and only tomato plant did not bear more fruits when it already got cold outside. So, I just harvested them and took them inside the house hoping that they would turn red or ripe. They did!

Although they look dry or wrinkled from the outside, I was surprised how they looked inside. And what about the taste? Wait for the video version that will come tomorrow. :)

Because Halloween is over, all the pumpkins (imported from The Netherlands) from our grocery stores are almost at giveaway-price: 1 Norwegian crown! It is equivalent to a little over than 5 Philippine pesos or 8 or 9 cents in US money.

Although they say it is not as good as the ordinary winter squash or pumpkin, these big orange Halloween pumpkin varieties are also edible, which can be used in soup or stew. You can also just roast the seeds if you want to, but that would be a waste of its meat.

Have you bought one for cooking and not just for carved decoration?

Since we have harvested one good cauliflower, we decided to have a cream soup dinner with it as the main ingredient. I just added light milk, leftover bacon bits, and powdered mix of broccoli and cauliflower. It was a very fast and light, but tasty dinner for us!

Two edible flowers that love the chilly autumn weather -- marigold and cauliflower! They benefit from each other that is why I put them together in one plant case. They also add color to dark late afternoons!

Do you see the difference? We have two types of cauliflower -- one is almost white and more compact, while the other is yellow and velvety (or hairy).

I don't remember the variants, but one of them was sowed from seeds, and the other type was bought as seedling. I have lost quite a few while they were growing that I almost never believed that the rest would survive and be harvested. I even complained to hubby that it was not only money that was lost, but time and effort as well.

So, it came as a surprise in late September when I finally saw that some cauliflowers were getting bigger and faster! I am thankful now for the five or six that made it so far! :)

I have long legs! :)

I was just goofing around, of course, when we were out on a good warm autumn day. Believe or not, I was standing on an airstrip for sportsplanes in a countryside somewhere in the middle of Norway.

Here I am transplanting the new variant of hydrangea paniculata beside the old white one (middle) I have from 5 years ago. I hope both will survive and will be a good blending of colors in late summer next year! :)

I bought this hydrangea paniculata as a back-up to my other one, which is white. Not all hydrangeas are winter hardy in our place, but I am hoping that this striking variant will last for decades. It is called Sundae Fraise, by the way.

Do you like it? :)

Simple joy, flower story.

1. Hydrangea, hortensia in Norwegian, on the left has flowered after overwintering inside the house last year. I transferred it outside this summer just hoping that it will grow a bit, but it surprised me with one little dark violet flower in September as the weather got colder. I am satisfied!

2. The snapdragon, løvemunn in Norwegian, on the right was sowed from seeds in early March or April. For a while, there was nothing going on and it grew so slow. I was getting impatient. Come late September, it started showing flowers. Well, look at them now. It is truly worth the wait!
