I’m enjoying myself thoroughly at my first ever visit to Il Cinema Ritrovato. I can think of few better ways to spend a week than watching only classics and old gems.

Great films and people (John Bleasdale & John-Kristian Dalseth) and conversations, delish food in cute places, talks about restorations and reconstructions (long-awaited and white whales like The Devils and Welles’ Quixote), wildly hot weather (but they even spray you with water in the queues), and just, you know, Italy.

L’Innocente, Ten Seconds to Hell, Night Nurse, Sister Stella L., Cloud-Capped Star + Soft Note on a Sharp Scale, The Blade, Lenny, Rita la Zanzara, Careful – so many great cinema experiences in so few days!

And the new restoration of The Devils, screened on a print, is still coming up!

Delightful.
