Voices: A World Forum for Music Therapy An Open Access journal and forum supporting the discursive practices of music therapists around the world (ISSN 1504-1611)

Through it's two sections, the Original Voices and the Research Voices, VOICES: A World Forum for Music Therapy (ISSN 1504-1611) intends to support the discursive practices of music therapists around the world by producing a free first class online international forum. Join us at Voices – We are expanding our team!

Voices invites applications for Article Editors, Copy Editors, and a Communications Editor.

Article Editors serve as primary contact with authors and play a central role in assuring that both manuscripts and the process of peer review reflect values of Voices. Article editors are key voices in making editorial decisions about manuscripts and in the development of the journal. Like all of our editorial team, we aim that our article editors represent a mangfold of cultural contexts, languages, orientations and backgrounds that can engage a broad spectrum of authors.

Copy Editors liaise with authors to prepare the accepted manuscript for publication, with particular attention to language issues such as non-binary language, non-ableist language, and authorship when English is not a first language. Copy Editors aim to preserve the unique voice of the author(s).

The Communications Editor is responsible for maintaining an active and engaging social media presence for Voices; working with authors to create short videos and posts to bring attention to Voices content; testing out technologies that facilitate direct engagement among authors and readers; and working to promote international recognition and access.

To apply, please send a CV and a statement of your motivation, demonstrating your connection to our vision and values and stating what you can bring to the role. Successful applicants for Article Editors should demonstrate experience as author and/or reviewer of refereed publications. Experience as editor is an advantage, but not a requirement. When considering applicants, we will give prioritization to people from under-represented groups. We welcome applications until June 12, 2025.

Our latest issue of Voices has been published! Vol 25 No 1 (2025). We begin with a call to engagement and action, in these turbulent times, to promote social justice. We stand in solidarity with those who are being further othered and marginalized by recent political changes. Potentials for promoting social justice, ethical accountability in education and training, inclusiveness, equity in research, and health-promoting resources are explored in contributions from Austria, Canada, the U.K. and the U.S. (with select dual-language articles available in German and Japanese). Inspired by this issue’s authors and responding to global political currents, we encourage all our readers to consider how they can use their voices to support the collective good.

We are expanding our team! Call for Article Editors

Voices invites applications for Article Editors who support our practices of transparent publishing and dialogic peer review.

Article Editors serve as primary contact with authors and play a central role in assuring that both manuscripts and the process of peer review reflect values of Voices. Like all of our editorial team, we aim that our article editors represent a mangfold of cultural contexts, languages, orientations and backgrounds that can engage a broad spectrum of authors.

To apply, please send a CV and a statement of your motivation, demonstrating your connection to our vision and values and stating what you can bring to the role. Successful applicants will need to demonstrate experience as author and/or reviewer of refereed publications. Experience as editor is an advantage, but not a requirement.
