“The weight i left behind”
I watched you bleed into the earth,
Breaking yourself to prove my worth.
Every drop of sweat, every shattered bone,
Building a future I would never own.
I knew the cost, I saw the strain,
You gave your all, while I gave you pain.
Each hour you worked, each night you lost,
Was meant for me, but at what cost?
I was never enough—never what you dreamed,
Just an empty vessel, tearing at the seams.
I felt your hope, but it crushed me whole,
I was born with a broken soul.
You handed me a life, a chance to rise,
But I stumbled, failed, believed my own lies.
I wanted to be someone you could love,
But all I became was a burden to shove.
I dragged you down, I held you back,
While you walked a straight line, I lost the track.
I was a shadow you couldn’t escape,
A failure in human shape.
You stood strong while I fell apart,
Holding me up with your breaking heart.
And still, I couldn’t be what you deserved,
A disappointment with every word.
Now I’m gone, but not in peace,
Not in some quiet, tender release.
I left in a storm, in a rage of regret,
With every promise, every word unmet.
I took the easy way, I know,
Left you there to reap what I couldn’t sow.
You’ll carry the weight of my empty name,
The ghost of your love, consumed by shame.
And now, all I have left is this—
A memory that will never miss.
A hollow life that never shone,
A burden you’ll carry alone.
I wonder if you’ll ever understand,
Why I let go of your outstretched hand.
It wasn’t your fault—you fought, you tried,
But I was already dead inside.
I’m sorry for the wreck I became,
Sorry for the weight of my name.
But in the end, it’s over, it’s done,
I was nothing… and now I’m none.
